What are the likely culprits? RAM? ROM? Game plays "blind" and audio is fine so this is purely a video output issue. The red spots seem to be the clown, apples, enemies because they move around in attract mode. Also, it appears that I'm not getting any blue in the output.

I have cleaned and reseated all the socketed chips, but I have not replaced sockets yet (I need to order some more).

I might be picking up another mr do board, but either way I'd like to repair this if possible.

As I recall, I didn't. I have 2 boards and so I just switched to the other one. The dedicated cabinet doesn't have an adjustable +5v supply and it is perhaps even a hair below 5.00 at the supply so maybe the voltage drop by the time it gets to the chips was causing it not to boot properly. That's my only guess from my recollection of the issue. But I hope if you figure it out that you'll post here. It would be nice to have 2 working boards! The good news is working Do boards are dirt cheap though. Good luck!

have you ever had to replace the bulbs in yours?
kind of an odd size bulb.
where can you buy them? and what size is the one that screws in....front and rear both have a screw in bulb and fluorecsent bulb

Searching my email, I'm not finding what I ordered for the bulbs but I think I found what I ordered for the starter. At the time I think I determined that Universal didn't always use the same unit. You mention "screw in" and I don't think I had that style. You might have better luck checking with fizgig since he just completed a full resto of one. But fwiw I think I ordered from bulbster and got both of these types, not being sure which would work for me. IIRC the first is a nintendo style and the second ended up working for me. I think I was concerned about the 120v rating since Universal runs the monitor and lights at 100v but it has worked great for me for over 2 years. If fizgig doesn't have the bulb info for you, LMK and I'll open mine up and see what's in there.

3 x F10T8/CW = $7.83
3 x Fluorescent Starter fs-u 120v = $6.12
