So i'm listening to the Howard Stern show on Sirius satellite radio today, and Across the PDT it says "Mr. Awesome" Sure enough I listened to the entire segment ( a best of ) it was Roy Shildt! I listened intently to make sure it as the same guy from 'king of kong' fame. I was shocked by what I heard. Not only did he claim to be the first computer athlete to be recorded in the record books for his score in missile command, ( where Gary De'Abate producer stated " Is there anything awesome about a guy who holds the record for missile command?" and Stern responds "No" ) but went into detail about how he put an ad in Playgirl where several women, as well as a number of Hollywood producers responded to his ad. I listened as he admitted to allowing some of these producers to perform certain acts on him to help him get further in his pursuit of an acting Career. He felt he needed to expose what was happening in Hollywood for those who were unknowing. He also claimed to be a personal trainer. Needless to say I was blown away ( no pun intended ) by what I heard. I knew that this guy was over the top just by seeing him in King of Kong, but had no idea how bizarre his story was Is anyone else aware of this interview? Was it ever mentioned here before? The segment was originally broadcast on 2/9/01...

Yeah, Roy's antics (Stern interview included) are pretty well documented here and on other arcade related forums. He's a bizarre dude, even by arcade nerd standards, no doubt... but sometimes very hilarious...

I heard it on Stern too...I can't believe he hooked up with male producers. He is a straight up kook. I met him outside of a Twin Galaxies event in Ottumwa Iowa a couple of years ago. He had gotten kicked out and asked if he could use my badge to get back in.

Note to self...don't end up like Mr. Awesome

I don't even know this Roy guy and have just spent the last bit watching youtube videos of his outcries.

My response to everything is: If he is all up about it, why doesn't he just devote the rest of his life beating the Leading score. Also, we wouldn't accept this behaviour from a 6 year old. Does he not understand how hes presenting himself?

In the end, who give a ^*$(, its a score. It should be about personal pride. If he knowns he did it, it shouldn't matter, nor should he have to try and convince the world. I doubt Neil Armstrong (R.I.P), would go around yelling at everyone, that he went to the Moon. If there were some people saying, I think it was faked. Guy needs to get some self respect.

Haters-

All of you punk bastards could take a little advice from Mr Awesome.

That one damned line is enough to make him awesome in my book.
