So I had board work done by Chris Munson (great clean work, rediculously fast turn around, helpful all around) so now the game is booting everytime, and I'm able to start a game. 2 major questions at this point
1. Does anyone have a pic of the Squawk & Talk board, I have a two prong plug (speaker?) that I'm not sure where it goes. Couldnt find a clear shot online, so I figured I'd ask.
2. In the game, and the solenoid check, some of the coils atrent firing. From what I see, the coils under the 2 4 bank drop targets move slightly everytime one of the other non-working coils is supposed to fire. For instance, in game, if you trigger the switch for the pop bumpers, the coil for the drop targets click (they dont push the targets up though). So during the test, the drop targets will move like that 10 times in a row. The flippers work fine, as well as the 2 kick-out holes, but the pop bumpers, drop targets, bumpers by the flippers etc all not working. Sorry about the long post. Thanks again for the help.

TL;DR: Squawk and Talk issue and coil issues...please help.

Dag, sorry, I need to shoot you a pic of that connector. Will try to get done today. I also want to ask - on the underside of the playfield, at the left front (kind of underneath the left flipper), is there a small board with a relay on it? Let me know.

Chris

Heres a pic of my squalk n talk.
connector on the far right,it connects to the bottom 2 pins HTH

Yeah, thats how it is plugged in. Still no sound. I get the 5 flashes on the S&T board though. And yes, there is a small board with a relay on it "Solenoid Expander Board"

Checked the test points, everything seems to be ok. Jeez. OK, got the sound working. Rewired the speaker so all is well. Anyone with ideas on the coils? Also my GI doesn't work, but the computer controlled lights do. ideas?

OK, I know this thread so far has been all over the place, so I am going to try to regroup. Now that the sound is working, I want to work on the GI lights, they dont light. Are the GI lights on the auxiliary lamp driver board? Is there a systematic way to troubleshoot this besides looking for a short?
More specific to Mr and Mrs Pacman, is the light maze off of the aux board? I have a couple of lights out (not the bulbs) and I would like to rectify that as well. Going forward I will try to keep my own threads on track. THANKS!

Oh and to clarify what was wrong with my sound, I believe it was the volume pot that was on the coin door. I don't know if this is like this from the factory as there are volume adjustments on the S&T board itself, but once I bypassed the coin door volume pot, it worked flawlessly. Not sure yet if I am going to replace or leave it the way it is now, I don't adjust the volume that much.

GI comes right off the rectifier board. Check F5 first. Then check the voltage at the headers on the board. If you've got GI voltage coming out of the rectifier board but it still doesn't work you're looking at a connector problem. It's also possible they were all burnt out by someone shorting the solenoid voltage to the GI or something. I've seen it happen but look for the most likely stuff first. Check the fuse and voltage.

As far as the other lamps go there are probably some in the maze that are driven by the aux lamp driver. Troubleshoot that stuff the standard way. Make sure the lamp drivers are at least half-assed working then find your bad SCRs, decoders, etc...

Thanks Lindsey. I checked the voltage on the rectifier board, at the F5 and at TP4, and I have 0. Now I am confused. I've been looking through the pinwiki and pinrepair and there isn't too much info on what to do here.

check the small board just under the left flipper on the playfield. That connector was having issues on ours, a little fussing and all our lights started working.
