MPSU07/MPSU57 replacement transistor

Biltronix recommended, in the past (his K6100 parts lists etc), both BR and Mouser for U07 and/or U57. But those sites are prohibitive now for MOQ or price.

That said, less than $4 for those (CEN-XXX), each, probably is a valid price.

EDIT: For G08, Bill had recommended changing the U10 and U06 from TO202 to TO92(w/ sink) packages but I'm weary to do so. I'd rather use the larger parts. (YMMV)

Doing some digging around. Saw a recommendation to use a BD240 transistor. I just don't know enough about what makes some transistors adequate in this application, and some not. I'm sure I was taught it at some point, but I've taken a nap since then...

Quite similar (electrically) but they have different pinouts.

Rob, just use the ZTX series. That's what I use on all 6100's and b/w vector repairs, and have been for years. They're cheap and work great.

I don't fix these every week. If I need a U07/U57, I just order the $4 CEN-U07/CEN-U57 from Digikey or Mouser. A couple of overpaid dollars every few years doesn't kill me, Maybe if I did this as a service, several times per year I'd think about cutting costs. That's not a dig at Andy. I'm just saying that sometimes we need to put the cost of parts into perspective.
