I didn't lose a whole lot. But 20 pounds seems to make a difference when moving games. Physically moving them around isn't the issue. It's getting them tipped back on the hand-truck. I used to just pull them back and go. Now on some games I have to use a jerking motion and kind of stick my leg out behind me to get the leverage. Or maybe it's just because it was Centipede.

Nope, you're spot on. I worked for a guy and moved a lot of games, certain ones like Golden Tees are really hard to tilt back... when I was heavier, I could tilt them back... if I lost weight and got in good shape, I wasn't heavy enough to tilt them back anymore! Craziest thing ever.

When it comes to tipping a game, its all about counterweight. I come in at about 175 and I do pretty well for most games. I haven't moved a lot lately but I work at an appliance store and frequently move heavy clothes washers, dryers and refrigerators. Today's front load washers easily come in at 200 lbs or more but have a much lower center of gravity than arcade games. Moving 18 or 21 cubic foot fridges is a lot like moving arcade games. The heaviest ones we have are 28 cubic foot stainless steel fridges. A major pain in the ass. I can usually tip them back and move them by myself most of the time. They weigh around 350 lbs and I have to tip them forward a bit and really put my weight into it to get them tipped back. It helps if you do it all the time, though.

Im only about 155 and getting them tipped is the hard part. I have been getting alot of practice lateley, like when I moved my Centipede down 6 stairs into the basement by myself. It was quite an adrenaline rush!

I hope moving X-Men from your truck to your game room didn't hurt you too badly. That thing is a beast. :)

It wasn't to bad. I had your game and the Centipede on the truck at the same time and was able to unload both and put them in the house by myself. Generally I can unload 2 games from my truck by myself and have a process worked out for that. I've never figured out how to unload 3 games on my own yet though.

You're lucky you didn't get it 'tipped' the other way, lol.

I'm about 155 - 160 and tipping some of the atari's at first can be a chore.

Atari's are heavy as shit. I picked up an Asteroids Deluxe recently and I could barely unload the thing by myself. Even just sliding it on the floor is pretty tough.

I haven't moved around games in a while and the other day I moved 6 games to take to work and bring them back home I ended up bruising my arm going down the driveway with the weight of the games on my handtruck, my T2 was a pain trying to lift that bad boy I nearly have to use all my weight 215 to bring it up.

Yep, I moved a bunch of machines on load in day for the NW show and avoided the atari cabs every chance I could.

Atari or williams? I'll take the williams this trip
Atari or Taito? I think I'll move the taito
Etc.

Well I have been overweight all my life and when I was younger ( I am 52 now) I never had any problem moving a game. Plenty of counter weight but some cabinets were still difficult to tip from the back like MACH 3 upright. Much easier if you put the hand truck on the side but then you cant move it though a door way. Your better off loosing the weight though. You can always get someone to help move a game but you have to move your big ass all by your self and as you get older it gets harder to move it. My doctor put me on a 1500 calorie a day diet. So far I have lost 13 pounds and it's made a big difference so far. I was 311 now 298 and dropping. Also putting casters on all my games which makes it nice to move them around the game room.:)

It looks like you, me and pcolson have everyone else beat in the leverage department. :D

I went back to school in my mid 30s, and my freshman 15 turned into about a freshman 50, and it just got worse from there. I went from 240 when I started up to 386!. Starting to go back down a bit now, but damn, that was fast. I started Brazilian Jiu Jitzu last month to lose weight, and it definitely burns some calories!

At 365 now, I think I still outweigh even the atari games. I am 6 feet tall, so I can reach over and grab the front to pull them back, which makes it pretty easy.

Sam is right though, once you start getting close to 40, it becomes a lot more work to carry all the extra weight around. I am going to try to get back under 300lbs before I turn 40 in October just to reduce the wear and tear on the joints a bit. I have been over 350 a few times over the years, and it is starting to catch up with me a bit.

one of the advantages to having a 4 wheel dolly is you can stand on the rear set of wheels and it will give even a 150 lb guy leverage to tip over a 400 lb game..

I guess you could put a 40lb weight belt on to help you tip it..
