I'm planning on picking up Daytona twins soon. As of right now, the plan is to rent a truck with a lift gate to pick up and I will have one person with me. Is it pretty do-able for the two of us with the lift gate? I know the whole thing detaches into 3 pieces, including topper, and that it's on casters. Also, there are no flights of stairs involved- just 2-3 little steps to get it into my house.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a tad nervous, but perhaps I shouldn't be. I'm a big dude and I've moved some pretty heavy cabs myself without issue.

Please put my mind at ease lol.

Comes apart into 4 pieces actually...but the main cabs are bloody heavy...

Perhaps I need a little schooling then because I thought it just broke down to the two main units and topper. What is the fourth piece, the coin acceptor and enclosure?

Also, just so I'm clear on where everything detaches: from what I've read, it's just the bolts in the coin box enclosure, the harnesses that connect the two units (also located in coin enclosure?) and then the opto couplers on the back of each unit?

Everything you said above is correct. Unless you have double doors, you will need to detach the coin box. It is Very heavy, id guess at least 500 lbs. You will have no problem loading with a lift gate and two people. To make those three steps though, they had either better be two very strong people or recruit another helper, because other than being heavy it is also awkward. You will probably have the best luck going in seat first just because it will be easier to dead lift and to get through the door. The rest will follow with determination and muscle.

Don't forget to make sure the feet are screwed all the way up and out of the way. Be careful and enjoy. Daytooooonaaaaaa...

You can still split the main unit. The bottom base with seat will separate from the monitor/dashboard. I think you should be able to move it in without separating the unit.

As someone who's moved one personally, it's not "that" bad...

As mentioned, the two sides split at the coin door.
The wiring harness has molex connectors,
so you should be able to split them easily.

As for those who said you can split into 4 pieces,
that involves separating the monitor/steering section
from the base/seat section.
(...the are 6 big bolts on each side of each base )

I would NOT recommend this.

For one thing, it would make the monitor section unstable
and very prone to tipping over .

Then you would have to worry about all the wiring
as the PCB's are in the base, but all the controls and video
are in the monitor section.
(... so you would have to disconnect EVERYTHING ).

Lastly, the weight distribution makes it almost pointless.
Each seat weighs about 600lbs, but I'd say the monitor and CP
alone weighs 400lbs, and the base under 200lbs.

So save yourself alot of aggravation by keeping the units assembled.

Once you split Driver #1 from Driver #2 at the coin box,
they are pretty easy to move around on the casters.

I was able to wheel them up a ramp into an open trailer.
(... and I "only" weigh 190lbs... ;-)

You should be fine with a liftgate.

Good luck.
Steph

Thanks for the help, guys. I got them moved yesterday without much trouble. Honestly, I should've just rented the truck with the lift gate and done it with myself and my future bro in law. I got a bit panicky the night before the move, though, and lined up some guy off of Craigslist that operates a little mom and pop moving/handyman service. It was going to cost me about the same as renting the truck and doing it myself so I figured "what the hell, I'll let someone else do the heavy lifting."

So yesterday I'm just finishing up disassembling everything and these two dudes roll up in a truck. Said truck has neither a lift gate or even a damn pull-out ramp. I had warned him about the weight of these things but he apparently didn't care. 5 of us, including the guy I bought it from, had to dead lift each unit onto the damn truck. It went fine but it would have been easy with a lift gate as I originally had planned.

Yeah, but you had to work to get it done. You don't just want a liftgate, you want a rail lift. Its especially needed if your moving something big and on wheels.

At this point, I care not one iota. They're in the house and not going anywhere. Liftgate, rail liftgate, pulley system, superhuman strength-I'm sure any of them would have made it easier.
