Moving a Galaga in a PT Cruiser - Is it sage to lay it down?

I have to deliver a Galaga and the only vehicle I have right now is a PT Cruiser - I think it will fit if I lay it on it's back.

Is this safe or should I wait until I can get a pickup and keep it standing up straight?

It's safe for the game. Not sure about the cruiser. Just make sure nothing inside is loose and there's no game junk inside the cab that can smash into something when you lay it back.

I have transported every game I've purchased on its back in a minivan. A little tricky getting out, but completely safe. Never had any damage from doing it (well, the back doors of a couple scraped the bottom and lost a little black paint, but that's no biggie).

Cool - i thought it was ok but didn't want to get there and have the thing start smoking when I plug it in :)

I will make sure it's all bolted down good

thanks

Make sure when you stand it up and plug it in to look in the back of the game to check to see if any small screws or nuts etc aren't laying on the fuse block or power supply or gameboard.

Yeah, you can lay it down. Just pop the back off before you tip it, take a peek inside, and make sure nothing's loose. Then when you arrive, make sure nothing's worked its way loose. You should be fine.

As far as scraping the back of the cab, find yourself an old comforter or blanket. Lay down a piece of cardboad or hardboard in the vehicle, then drape the blanket over the back of the cab. Tip her in and slide her into place. Makes it very easy to slide it in and out that way. I've done dozens like that - using a canvas tarp.

I've moved every game I own by laying it on it's back in the minivan. Come to think about it, I've never moved a game upright. Not once. Not a problem as long as you double check before moving that everything is bolted in securely. And yes, I've picked up games where the monitor wasn't bolted in at all...

And, as others have said, double check before plugging it in to make sure nothing moved or popped loose, and to check for quarters or bolts in the fuse block. When possible, I always take the back off, and tuck the power cord inside, so it doesn't get pinched when you slide the game on it's back. Nintendo games, however, don't work like that, since the power cord exits the plate at the bottom. But on Midway cabinets, you can easily tuck the whole power cord inside.

Only games you can't lay on their backs are things like Tron or Gorf - that have the monitor bubble. Those have to go on their sides with something soft to protect artwork.

Wrap it in a blanket and slide it in, on its back. Should be fine I've moved a ton of games this way.

Just don't forget to take the keys out of the back before laying it down. Like I did with my Ms Pacman. Tho I learned you can hammer keys straight again, it's not worth the lesson!

This, just be sure the trunk hook doesn't come up in the back-- the two or three back casualties I've had happened THROUGH A COMFORTER as a result of the shape being there at all. Eventually I've found it's best to have multiple blankets or even a pillow to cover any extruding shapes in the path.
