So we built a new 1.5 story house not too long ago...the ".5" upstairs is a dedicated movie room that has a little perfect-sized nook for 2 of my favorite games (I finally got that DL upstairs - took some effort). I know it's not much of a "row" but I'm pretty excited about it and I think it will compliment the movie room nicely. So now I have the arcades, the recliners, the projector, and now I just need a sound system, some paint, and a screen and it will be heaven!

Thanks for letting me share!

I like that - "lobby" is a good way to look at it.

I will post some other pics of the movie area once I clean it up a bit (just had our first kid not too long ago, so there's some "junk" up there). Soon enough though! I plan on painting the room this weekend, and then maybe doing something to that nook where I can add a black light and special paint to make it look "arcadey".

I don't have a dedicated movie room, and really lost my desire for one (it used to be in the cards before a gameroom). I do have an outdoor theater setup though. When the outdoor movie is up and running, the gameroom is the main entrance/exit to get out there, thus it becomes a lobby/snack room.

I tell you what, I got as giddy as a school girl the first time I walked into the gameroom from the first movie night this summer. The only light was from the games, and the humid, dark atmosphere was EXACTLY like the drive-in snack lobbies of my youth.

I too do not have have a dedicated movie room and have no desire for one. We moved into our new house the past December and I had installed a 65" tv on our family room wall over our fireplace. Coupled with an excellent surround sound system and the fact that we sit about 18 feet away from the screen, I consider that our "movie" room. Since moving in, I have very little desire to go to the movies since I have a very comfortable movie feel in our family room. We also have an unbelievable basement which I have plans for. Originally, I was going to make the entire basement into an arcade but that idea has changed. I will make half the basement into a dedicated arcade. The room will be 22' x 50'. The ceilings are 9'. This fall I will begin work. I cannot wait! I figure I can fit about 50 - 60 games in there. But then again, I want to put in at least 6 pins (I have 3 right now).

To address the original post....You do not have to have a huge game room. Whatever you have, cherish and enjoy. That is more than alot of people have these days. I would say those two games are a great choice. When I get older and decide to move on from this hobby and have to downsize, I would probably keep 2 games. 1 custom multicade and one awesome pinball when I move from my house into a downsized condo!

Enjoy what you have. It is killer!

Check Overstock.com for powered screens. Wicked inexpensive and shipping is only 2.95.

My arcade sits outside the double doors to my theatre. I love it. My wife tried to make me make the theatre my arcade so she could make the arcade the ? room. That's when that discussion ended. She couldn't come up with a good use for it, other than having it open and free of games. I will eventually get an 85 inch projection screen, but for now, 55" rear projection works.
