So I acquired a cruis'n usa. Wasn't really something i planned on owning, but you know how that goes...
Monitor was necked, so i got an hp 32 widescreen and an adapter. I saw a post where Hailrazer (i think) put in a 32 tv and then set it to 4:3 and it looked right. Took some adjustments on the adapter and monitor, including changing the clamp to 4 and 3, whatever the hell that means.
Well, it does, except i used a computer monitor that turns on when powered up.
Problem was that the kids had to sit way too close to the screen to reach the pedals. Making the seat go forward more would have fixed nothing, they would still be too close.
So i took some measurements and slapped together a box and moved them forward 8 inches.

My wife who is 5'2 can still play it, i really can't at 6'1 but it's not really there for me to enjoy.
5'2 is probably close to the max height, but that doesn't matter to me since my kids and nieces and nephews play these games and the max age is 11.
Besides, i could undo it in less than 5 min.
The ground and the harness reach and unplug.
Cost was free with some wood i found in the storage area of my basement.
Barely needs any support to stay in place and i didn't make any holes in anything metal.

The kids are all having a blast, glad i agreed to take it.

Can they reach the wheel? I used to keep a few small stepstools in my arcade so the tiny kids (mine included) could reach the wheels and pedals. Worked great, they had a blast. Tossed the stools years ago, we don't have any tiny kids in the family any longer.

Nice idea! I always loved Crusin USA. I hope to pick one up (and not piss off the wife enough to file for divorce in the bargain...)

Cruis'n USA is always one of the most popular games in my collection. It was the first game I bought. I like the little Easter eggs like holding the view buttons during car selection lets you pick a cop car (with the license plate "OINK" I think) or a school bus.

I also love that the attract mode features an ad for the "Nintendo Ultra 64, coming to your home in 1995" — what a great throwback, and I love that that's not even the final name they used for the Nintendo 64.

Now when the kids get tired of racing to the White House to hang out in a hot tub on the roof with Bill Clinton and a bunch of bikini babes (God, Midway was just killing it around this time!!), you can get a Cruis'n World PCB which is completely compatible with the cab, or an Off-Road Challenge PCB which just requires a DIP switch set to work with the Cruis'n cab's shifter setup.

I have all 3 boardsets and swap them out once or twice a year to change things up. I wish there was a switcher available.

Thanks, didn't know about the cop car or bus, i just showed the kids, they are thrilled.

Honestly, i don't think it's the greatest game for adults, i'm used to playing forza horizon 5 and Forza racing.
But for kids with a manual transmission, it really is awesome.
I'm probably going to sell off speed buggy to a friend now that i own this. Speed buggy has been a great fun simple kids game, but i feel like cruisin is a good evolution in the steering wheel game world and it wouldn't serve a purpose to own both.

Just got mine working yesterday for the first time since picking it up and my son loves it. Didn't know about the hidden cars so I'm looking forward to showing him!

Drivers are a great way to round out a gameroom, and kids love them. I have a 4 player linked Virtua Racing, and it's been the most played game in my gameroom for the past 20 years, and I have a dozen classic videos, a pool table, and pinball machines.

Yeah on the n64 version there was also different colors for all the vehicles even the bus and the cop car i think, if I remember you had to get first place like overall in the entire like full run across the map. Definitely one of the best drivers, did it have force feedback steering I cant remember?

My buddy stopped by, he's 5'9 and can still play with the seat back, goes to show you how out of place the pedals were in the first place.

Yes it has force feedback steering. There is a motor and drive assembly to provide that controlled by a secondary circuit board.

I still operate some games in pizza places skating rinks things like that and drivers still do the best always usually dosent even matter if its an older one cruisin, rush, cali speed, second best shooting games and third ms pac. Kids just are not interested in the older fighting games, shooter scrollers, etc sadly. Like Aliens vs Predator that was one of my favs as a kid lol they have no interest.
