Mouse Trap Joystick - What kind is it supposed to be?

The joystick in my mousetrap was replaced. They drilled new holes in the control panel and put in some weird joystick--and I'm not sure that stick is even installed properly. The 4-way limiter is actually etching the stick's shaft.

I forgot to take a look last night.... but I grabbed a few poor pictures this morning before my train ride.

The pictures are of a control panel of a borrowed cabinet. The cabinet I am borrowing was as a donor for tracing and cutting a replacement. (http://www.classicarcadecabinets.com/mouse-trap.html)

Anyway, the joystick looks extremely close to a Ms. Pacman frame to me. I will have to pull my Ms. Pac and compare. My second control panel I purchased from a KLOVer is also drilled the same as yours.

Thanks
Brian

If you're looking to sell, I've got a want ad up. As you can see, mine was drilled for the new stick.

=\

And THANKS!

On that note, is there a good reference somewhere for Pac sticks? I'm wanting to learn more about them, and the different variants (originals vs copies, etc). I have a few I'd like to better identify.

Well that's not surprising since it's their answer to Pac-Man. I'll source a pac stick then.

If that blue colored ball is correct, you may wanna talk to your buddy Dan Reed. I put that exact (NOS Midway Rip-off) joystick on the Journey CP I traded to him.

Thanks Phet! I do believe that blue is the correct color. I will talk to him! Though he may want to keep it since it's blue.

Another Q for the readers of this post: It looks like Pac and Ms. Pac sticks differ. Is that true?

No, not true. There are variations in the color of the sleeve. Black vs red. There are variation of the housing color, also. Powder coated vs bare steel. Mechanically, they are the same. They used the stick on many other games, too.

The attached photos from eBay would seem to indicate that the Pac-Man joystick has a different bolt pattern for mounting.

On Pac Man, the joystick mounts to the wood under panel. Then that wood mounts to the metal CP. That's why you see only 2 bolt holes on a Pac panel.

I think Dan is confused on what a snitch is.

*Mwuah*

If that CP is complete and restored, I imagine that joystick isn't coming out of there without peeling the Journey CPO off... and I KNOW that's not happening.

Blue ball is correct and it is kind of a midway clone. The grommet is different with a two bolt pattern and the red restrict or plate is quite a bit different. I need to pull mine to complete my restoration, I can take some good pics side by side with a midway stick also.

Glad to see that my MT wasn't the only one with the weird chalky white on the overlay. I cleaned mine with a mr clean eraser, simple green, and then wiped several times with pledge pledge and it looks great now.

A side note I did NOT do any scrubbing or heavy pledge on lettering.
