I have a MT here that does not have the red, blue & yellow door colors.
The cat, dog, and hawk are colored fine and I have different colors on the fonts that explain game play during attract mode so I have proper RGB at the monitor.
Is there a special chip that controls color data in the board?

Don't know a certain chip off the top of my head but the top board in the two board set is the audio color board so I'm pretty sure that would narrow the issue down to the top board.

ok, got the color problem fixed. It was a broken pin on the ribbon cable.

Now I have a sound issue I need to tackle. I have sounds effects but no music.
There is also a very bad hissing type sound from the audio. I can control the volume of the hissing via the main volume pot.

not sure about mouse trap but pepper II and other Exidy boards have three pots. One for sound effects, one for background music and one for overall volume I believe. These pots are known to go bad. Since the issue is only with one set of sounds i would replace the pot that controls that sound set. I've also seen sound volume of one of the two sets of sounds get so low that it's almost unnoticeable due to the heat sink on the amp chip not making proper connection of the bridged pins. Usually if it's totally disconnected it will cause an error message but I have had the issue intermittently where it boots fine but the sound issue is still there.

ok, if i turn the MUSIC VOL pot, i get a screeching sound. it gets louder as I turn the the pot up.
all other pots are fine and do what they are supposed to.
