I'm going to be replacing my dead tube from the Megatouch with another monitor. I have removed the touchscreen and it looks like its mounted with simple double sided tape as well as some kind of black tape on the outside. Just wondering if its OK to use standard double sided tape and maybe some other type of black tape, like hockey tape, or something along those lines? Is there a special tape for this? if so, is it really necessary? If so, anyone have any?

You're fine with what you have in mind.
Just plain ol' 3M double sided taped. (narrow of course)
The black tape is more to keep the wire intact than anything else. Aids a little in adhesion, but not much.

Just be sure to have it lined up properly before sticking it to the tube, kinda a one shot deal.
(that double sided tape is unforgiving)
