Do you guys mount the adhesive backed ones to clear plexi or frosted plexi? I noticed with my last one that I had to add a layer of white adhesive vinyl to the inside of the plexi to diffuse the light a little, as the marquee's colors seemed to get washed out otherwise. I just got a repro translite from GameonGraphix and I just wanted to know if I need the extra diffusion or are his colors strong/opaque enough to prevent washout.

I have yet to be satisfied with ANYONE's re-print of a marquee on translite.

I'd love to hear about any way that someone's fitted these to make them look better.

Well here are some shots of this one mounted to my office window. It actually looks pretty rich, even being back lit by the sun. I think I'll be OK with clear plexi.

ouch!

translites in general just suck but would recomend applying them to 1/8" white trans plex
than using 1/8" clear on top. or if thickness is an issue use 1/16"
and Marquees with alot of Black will always be a problem.

and/or use lower wattage bulbs or diffuse the tube

Rich, no disrepect meant towards you in any way. You're in the same boat with everyone else in this predicament: it's damn near impossible to reproduce something that was originally screened on plexi. I've tried 4 options from here in the KLOV hobby (or BYOAC) and 3 other options - 2 local and one recommended. All gave me similar results, but nothing got me all the way there.

I'm beginning to wonder if I'm not asking for the right printing process, or the right materials to be used. But I've held up NOS DK marquees and NOS Pac marquees next to translite reprints and nothing comes close, from anyone I've tried.

Mahbe I should just stay away from translite in general?

We have a BINGO! :D

I hear you but thats apples to oranges
whether your getting that trans from me or GoG your getting the best there is out there
as far as inkjet goes.

You simply cant screen a 1 off or a custom marquee without spending ALOT of money.
Screened stuff is usally done in large Qtys to help justify those costs.

So its not that your asking for the wrong stuff.
