I've got a 2 board DK pcb, they are attached to the metal plate that I believe attaches to l brackets in the cabinet. I don't have those l brackets. Does anyone know where I can find them?

Does yours still have the wood slide tray in it ? If so you install the strait part of the metal plate to the slide and use a simple L bracket from a hardware store to the upper section at the top towards the back of the cabinet with a bolt and nut, I used a wing nut for ease of install/removal.

Ok, I get the L bracket for the top piece. For the bottom, I have a wood shelf, but there is nothing on the shelf to attach to. Does the metal plate just rest on the shelf? That doesn't seem very secure, especially if you had to move the cab.

The boardset simply rests on the slotted wooden shelf. As a rule of thumb anytime you move a cabinet up or down stairs or transporting you should remove the boardset anyway. WHile I'm sure the boardset will survive the trip it's an extra precautionary measure that only costs you time instead of possibly costing you money.

Hmm, my shelf is not slotted, it's just a flat piece of wood. Does anyone have a picture of what the slotted shelf looks like?

Thanks for the really fast response. I'm still not entirely clear on how this would attach to my current shelf. The shelf I have seems to be original, so am I using the wrong board set for the cabinet? Does the slotted board somehow attach to my existing shelf?

Sorry for being such a noob, just want it to be as close to perfect as possible.

in the mario bros (original dk conversion) i have, it has a board cage like the one in this auction.

post a thread in the items wanted forum. maybe someone has an extra lying around.

DK did not come with a board cage. As mentioned. Top is secured by L brackets fastened to the side of the cab with a bolt pushed up from the bottom and a wingnut to secure said bolt from the top. Bottom edge of boards slide into slotted board on the bottom.

so it's kinda like the way mcr (tron, satan's hollow) boards are secured, then?

and would a DK two board set fit in that type of cage, assuming the end connector card/cover was not on?

Any place to buy the slotted shelf? Looks like it might have been glued to the flat shelf that I have, but I've got nothing now. I might be able to cobble something together with square dowel rods, but I'm not Tim Allen, so it will look pretty skanky, which is sort of opposite of the goal.

Since you lack Tim Allen talent, (and yes DK didn't come iwth a cage) I suggest you simply buy a Nintendo cage - screw the cage into the side of the cabinet and be done with it. Most people can't give these cages away - I'm sure someone would be willing to help you out.

Thanks, that's what I needed to hear. I might still try to cobble something together, I'd like it to be as close to original as possible.

All you'd have to do is staple two pieces of "one by" on your flat shelf. 2 pieces of 1 x 1....approximately 10-12 inches long would be fine.....leave a 1/16th - 1/8th "space" between the two pieces of 1 x 1.....enough room for the matal mounting plate to "slide" between.

Edward

P.S. If you want to go the RFI cage route....I've got plenty. $10 if you want to swing by the shop and grab one......but, I don't think this is needed.

I just tossed one into last week's trash. See honey, that's why I keep everything.
