Just picked up an Offroad Thunder with a legit 39" crt med. Res. Monitor. Has to be one of the sickest crts I have ever seen. Not a flat screen . This was a deluxe model comes in 3 pieces instead of the more common 2 that most driving games come in.

What's the best possible game to make a custom cab for that would benefit the most from such a large CRT?

Zaxxon right?

whoa....

I moved a 32" CRT TV once, and I said never again.

Friggin monster you got there...
Yeah, I didn't realize this was the Deluxe version when I bought it with like 25 other games till we went to pickup. Then I saw the 3 piece and behold , the mother of all crt's!

A few week ago I sold my 36" Gateway Destination CRT monitor which weighs in at 218lbs. It was in my basement so I had to strap it to the furniture mover and drag it up the stairs. 218lbs of dead freaking weight. I can only imagine moving a 39"...

I always had the impression that the arcade tubes of this size were absolute rubbish and didn't last very long? Not sure if anyone has any real work experience to offer input?

(I wanted Deluxe hydros and was talked out of it by many people due to reliability issues with these tubes)

yes, its hours on and how bad can a game burn a screen(expect screen burn on a crusin usa).. deluxe offroad thunder I think was kind of a bomb.. I am sure it did not last long on route. And once its off route, then who is going to buy it?

a local laundromat had a 39" offroad thunder in it.. I could see it was not working driving by. now thats one your would want to avoid..

I would tell you dont do it, its going to eat space for 3 games and the depth of them will mess up a floorplan. but if space is not an issue, then go for it. if the screens are strong and bright, your not going to leave it on 24/7. after a recap you can probably get 10-20 years out of it..
