Does anyone have a list of the most common CRTs used in the 13 and 19 inch machines? I know the names of them from tube swapping sites, but I don't have a firm understanding of which ones where/are the most used.

So, I'm trying to build a living document that keeps track of these tubes since I've been messing with tube swaps.

So far I have a concept like this:

From what I've found, sites like http://junknet.net/donor-tvs haven't been updated in awhile, and it would cost me literally nothing to run a Google form forever.

Plus the way I set this up, I think anyone else could download it and create their own master list...should something happen to me.

Does anyone see value in this?

I totally support this list....As you get 13/19's done, 25 and 27's would be helpful, especially for those of us who deal with Candy cabs....as some of those toshiba/sanwa tubes are hard to source.

Ive been playing around with tube swapping for 5 years now.
I made it a part of cap replacement/tube replacement , i keep a rack of donor tubes at my
shop at all times.
13's , 19's and 25's.
even black and whites just in case.

Same here, been collecting tubes/TV's now for a few years. Almost all of my games have new tubes in them now. I even collect the black and whites like you as well, you never know...

I agree. I think the missing piece for most of the tube swap sites is what TV model is likely to have a usable tube. Most people won't open up the back of a TV to give you a model number of a tube on a TV that is <$30 or Free. And around here, you have to pay to dispose of CRTs at recycles and the Garbage pickup no longer takes them.

So, for example, say I found a RCA TV on CL with Model Number F19421, I know that I have a good chance if I pick it up of it having a A48LGS30X03 tube that I could use for whatever project I need it for, or to keep as a spare.

One thing I would suggest adding is manufacture date. I see it in a couple descriptions, but having this along with it will help identify potential date ranges where the manufacturer may have changed the tube supplier.

Awesome! I'm glad you guys appreciate this effort! I made these updates, per the suggestions. I'm going to add this to my signature so that maybe I can get some more people populating it.

@Jimmyfloyd that is my exact issue. I want to do some tube swaps, and fix things up for people if I can...but it's challenging to have a single source of brand name info, which tells me something is going to work. That's exactly why I started this list...ideally as we spot them, we'll just know if it's useful or not.

- Added 27" option per bagheera369 on KLOV
- Pulled out manufacture date per jimmyfloyd on KLOV
- Changed size selector to horizontal for mobile use

Yeah I love this project too! So everyone who pulls tubes should take the 30 seconds it takes to enter the numbers in here so we have a handy guide to check when we're at a thrift store or curbside looking at an old TV and considering grabbing it.

Thanks and I'll add to it next time I pull a tube!
