I just picked up a MK2 and it seems very hard. I rember when this came out and I played it then but do not rember it being so hard to play. My 12 year old son thinks it is very hard also, he even set it to easy. Is it just me or are these games really that hard? Are there ones that are easyer? We even bought the arcade collection on the xbox, it has MK1 MK2 and MK3, and MK2 still seems a little hard. Maybe I just need to play it more and then it might seem a little better. My son and his friend have a hard time getting past the first guy.

Start off with one guy and master his her moves. Liu Kang is easy to use. Get a printout of their moves/fatalities. Before you know it, you will be whipping everyone. Learn to block too.

I think it has been so long since I played it I am just rusty. I'll have to find somewhere to print out all that info and keep it right by the game so we can learn For the most part I think the moves are the same as the xbox 360 so that should help since I can pull the move lists on that.

Yes I noticed my umk3 is very hard on very easy setting. I think you should play more and use your favorite character and master the moves.

My biggest problem with the AI is how it's programmed to automatically duck things like sub zero's freeze attack. You have to catch them offguard to land one of those, but forget about it if they are on their feet.

The trick with MK2 is on the first character, just duck and don't move. The AI will sit there and punch until time runs out and you can punish them all day.

When you advance to the second opponent, that trick doesn't work anymore. From the second opponent on, simply wait until the get close, jump backwards, they will follow you with a jump towards you and you can uppercut/roundhouse/standing HK all day.

Repeat the process all the way up the ladder. This works best on medium difficulty.

Another easy way to beat the AI is to play from the P2 side.

Edit: This is on Rev 3.1

One more thing. I need to drill the locks out on this cab and the problem I see is with the one on the back door. It has a big metal plat with a lock in the middle. The lock looks a lot bigger then the rest. Is it bigger? If it is does someone sell these? It is pretty mangled up, I can put a screw driver in it and turn it a little.

The AI in the first mk game is legit, but Ed Boon developped the AI in MK2 and other games in such a way that it instantly reacts to input, unlike the MK1 AI which reacted like a normal human player (visual cues). The games using that AI are incredibly hard and not much fun to play, sadly; but they brought in the money.

Notice that it will always follow the same curve of difficulty: you start a new game, beat two guys; then the third opponent will be ultra hard. You continue; first two ennemies are super easy then the third one will destroy you.

Once you reach the second half of the combat ladder, you will end up having to continue twice to 'reset' the pattern. That means the cpu character will kick your ass twice until suddenly turning into an idiot that barely reacts on your third try.

Over the years, people found lots of way to exploit the AI into a way that you essentially control them, but it breaks the immersion and kinda defeats the point of the game! It's still neat to try. Check it out on youtube!

use some cheese move. Sweep the first guy to death.

It is hard. Like the one guy said, pick one guy and learn all there moves and learn combos. I can devastate with liu kang just be sure to hold down low kick while fighting. Out of all my games all my brothers and friends always go back to mk2 even though ki1 and ki2 sitting right next to it. I love mk2, very fun.

I was going to pick those up but took to long to contact the guy, If you ever want to get rid of it holler at me :)

I was just about to buy a manual. Good thing I waited untill I opened it up.

There was a metal corver over the boards. It that needed or am I ok without it? Looks like someone cut it with a pair of snips.

All I have right now are the picks from the barn and one of after my son cleaned it a little. I need to get some more picks, I am slowly claening it and it is looking pretty nice.
