Does the mortal kombat y unit board need -5v??? i have a couple of boards, and when i connect the sound board, it automatically restarts and either there is no sound or scrambled. this is the first time i am connecting an mk1 y-unit. i have a 2 in 1 jamma switcher and it does not have -5v. should i try and connect it to my mk2 cabinet? according to the manual, it needs -5v at 1A, but some say that -5v will burn a y-unit mk1

feedback is appreciated

considering I plug my MK1 board into cabs wired for -5V I can tell you with 100% certainty it will not burn them up. :)

I jumpered the -5V pad on the JAMMA edge to all the slots on my 6-in-1 board.

I wanna say MK1 needs -5V, make sure you have the correct volume pot hooked up, because MK1 needs a 50k ohm volume pot.

even if your pot was incorrect or wired wrong though, you shouldn't be getting resets. if you can get into test mode, go into the sound diagnostics and run the sound board test. if it gives an error saying "SOUND IRQ NOT DETECTED" then something's wrong with your connections or the sound board itself.

make sure the ribbon cable isn't criss-crossed. always line up the red wire with the pin 1-2 side of the connectors... easiest way to remember.
