Hey guys,

I picked up a Mk cabinet yesterday which was, fully working prior to loading it in the, van. I took all the proper precautions to ensure all cables, board etc were fully secured. After unloading it in my garage, I did another review to make sure everything was still in its placed. Let it sit overnight and when I went to fire it up this morning, I heard and seen a pop at the female end of the extension cord coming from the inside of the house and now nothing on the cab turns on. I can't even hear the monitor turn on, just pure silence.

Any ideas on where to go from here? I checked both slow burn fuses and they look solid.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I'm a little confused at what you said popped and where. This might be a silly question but did you simply pop your breaker in your electrical box? Tried anything else on your extension cord to verify you still have good power?

this is an MK1 cab? I suppose you wanna verify that it's not the age-old running a Wells K7000 in a cab with no isolation transformer first.

you'll have to check your fuses inside the game too. follow the power cord you plug into the wall, then magic will happen.

The monitor is new and it does have an isolation transformer. I'll have to retrace the power cord and double check things again. The fuses by the isolation transformer are good.
To answer the other question, the pop came from the female end of the extension cord plugged into the house. I have checked power at that outlet and its good, howevet I have not checked the extension cord to see if its bad.

Check the AC plug on the game with a multimeter. You are looking to see if there is continuity between Hot/Neutral, Hot/Ground, and Neutral/Ground.

Maybe a quarter, screw, or something fell into a magic spot in the bottom of the cab... or maybe the power cord got pinched and is shorting internally. Use the multimeter to see if you have a short at the plug.

Thanks for all the help guys. Here's what I have found out;

Tested the extension cord used from inside the house with another device and it works fine. Outlets are all in working condition and no breakers were tripped.

Tested switcher and AC voltage coming into the cabinet, ZERO readings.

Pulled the male end plug coming from the cabinet and found the white white came loose right away and it was brownish in color near the end of the insulation so I am thinking the wires inside the plug came loose and shorted out. THe only fuses inside the cabinet i have found are 2 located near the isolation transformer and it all looks solid.

One other thing I noticed was a silver ground strap located by the side of the coin door that is just hanging. Not sure if this is suppose to be connected or not.

Ground straps not being attached to anything is a shock hazard. The control panels and coin doors should be grounded.

Found the problem which was the male plug on the cabinet. Replaced it and all works well:)

In regards to the groud strap, where on the machine can I connect it to, somewhere on the coin door?

that connects to one of the bolts (with a nut) on the bottom of the control panel lid (where the sticks and buttons are).
