tell me about it, i remember when mk1 was the new cool thing now it looks very early 90's (live action wise). i was recently telling a kid at one of my jobs about a new cabinet i picked up (a early 90's smash tv), only to realize the kid was born in 91'

i did enjoy the vid.

Awesome vid thanks for sharing! It was really interesting to hear about the test games they ran in Chicago. Somewhere there is a black MK cab with a Xerox marquee and the person doesn't know what they have. ;) I'd love to see one next year for MK II!

Very cool video. Brings back so many memories.

I still remember walking in to my local arcade and getting ready to wait in line to play SFII Hyper Fighting only to find the machine completely empty and a large crowd around this one certain game and everyone was like "whoa man, did you see that fatality'? I was like, WTF is with all of the comotion at the corner of the arcade? It was the one game that took me away from SFII and years later, I own both cabinets and they share a special spot next to each other. Two of the most iconic fighters of the early 90's.

I feel the same way man. SF2 was the game for me anytime I had a chance to play it. Then local bowling alley got a dedicated MK cab and I spent a lot of time playing it, but they also had a SF2. Unfortunately the SF2 had joysticks mounted to the right of the buttons so it was not the best playing machine. I ended up getting an MK II and then an MK in the collection before finally getting a SF2 CE.

I remember going to the Mall of America and seeing the original MK there in 92. One arcade had two of them and put it out front so everyone walking by would see it. Even though I was a big SF2 player at the time, it was the first game since Dragon's Lair that I actually felt intimidated to play. Ohh the memories.

How ironic. I just watched MkSecrets line up of behind the scenes of Mk 1-MkT last night. Shows the footage that was used in this video of Cage/Kano doing filming and such. Great watch for any Mk fan, or even a SF fan.

The first time I ever seen this game was of all places at a Walmart. It was strange for me at the time to see an arcade game at a store like that, and it was the only machine there. Two guys were playing and I'm not really sure who was player 1. But all I can remember is watching the 2nd player spamming the digitized fighter Johnny Cage's fireball, and his shadow kick. The graphics at the time were so awesome. I wanted to play so bad, but I was afraid that I would get smashed right away. Besides, the two guys were not moving at all from the machine.

The same people that do this...

Wow, that looks terrible. (The before shots of course.) I can't even imagine how uncomfortable that would be to play. Still, I just don't understand how someone who would have to take the time to plot, drill, and install the sticks and buttons could fail so hard. Sticks and buttons swapped, diagonal buttons?!
