Mortal Kombat: Random wrong sound effects being played

Ok this is totally weird, I got this mortal kombat board from ebay, and for gods sake, i wire it in , all the roms test clear, and ... The sound effects are totally wrong in game! The music plays fine, it's just the sound effects that are completly wrong.

The 'Fight', name calls are all fine, but all the other effects are completly messed up. It's like they are wrongly assigned. Jumping backward with Johnny Cage does a fatality scream, Raiden's electricity effects are 'thumps' sound when someone gets hit.. it's completly out of wack.

I remember trying a nba jam cab in the very same cab and it started doing this for a while. What could be the problem?

sent you a PM, check your sound board roms that they're in the sockets well. probably have a rom or two that's not making good conductivity with the socket and it's reading wrong.

yah it sounds like a rom problem, check all your roms to make shure they are not in backwards. in most roms there is a small slit or half hole on the top of it on one side, this shows you where the #1 pin is located

So i reseated all the roms, and still no difference. The music is perfect, its only some sound effects that come out all garbled.

I have another board i bought from a klover coming in the mail, hopefully it will be the end of this saga.

man, this was from awhile ago, lol

I don't know what else to look at. you COULD reseat your game roms too, maybe that might make a difference or not. only time I had the prob was with MK2, little different arrangement.

check voltages, but I doubt that's it. I don't know, hope your new sound board works!
