Does the 4 empty sockets mean things are missing? I'd be really interested if I knew this was operational.

How much is shipping from you to AZ?

Thanks!

The 4 empty sockets are normal. Nothing to worry about there. All the necessary chips that are required to be there are there.

Mine seems to be acting a bit quirky. I can get it to go to the game. I get the screen that says some errors slam switch closed. Then I hit start. It shows the mortal kombat screen for a split second and goes back to it. I notice there is a yellow wire running down the board looks like maybe a repair at one point. Any suggestions?

try changing the position of dip switch 8 of bank 2

yellow wire is most likely a factory jumper. (definitely if it's the one pictured in the first post)

Edit:

honestly every single one of those dips should be switched to off.

Changing this dip switch takes me to service mode and then says.. dip switch 8 is closed.. to return to the game, change it.

When I do.. I get to "Midway Presents", then it flashes MORTAL KOMBAT for a breif moment and right back to the post screen complaining about slam switch closed and errors detected.

have you tried this in another cabinet? or tried another board in the one your testing this one in (i'm sure you have but i have to ask).

seems the slam/tilt pins on the harness might be shorted out? or maybe on the board itself. I would concentrate on those and see what you can find for shorts/broken traces.

report back after that. what other errors were detected? when you do a CPU/main board test do any of the roms/ram/processors come up red?
