I just bought a MK jamma and their is no sound. The person said no sound board needed. Did he lie? I have an astro city machine running it. Other jamma boards I got the sound works.

I have an Astro City and an MK3 board (sound does not work on my cabinet). I've heard that the Astro power supply has a very weak -5v output, which seems to be the case with my cab (I am pretty sure the -5v is properly wired, but much less than -5v is actually supplied to the board).

So, check the JAMMA harness and the cabinet PSU to see if the -5v is wired and, if it is, measure the power being supplied using a multimeter.

A legit MK 1 boardset is 2 boards. 1 main board and 1 smaller sound board connected by 2 cables. Some of the MK bootleg boards have sound onboard and are a single board. Don't know if your PS in that cab is giving out -5. Also don't know if the boots require -5, but I'd guess not.

Is fixing/installing a -5 wire hard? Or should I just mail back the jamma?
