The game I will be working on is far from me. (drive wise) The game plays but no sound. I know to check the wiring to the speaker and the speaker itself. Lets skip the first 2 and what else could be at hand. Just trying to gather as much info before going to the repair. Something on the logic board that I should look into?
Thank you!!

missing -5 or the power harness or the sound board all together? bad or missing ribbon cable possibly... it's hard to tell with so little info

tho if -5 is missing it may or may not make a loud screeching noise so that could probably be ruled out.

you might bring a power supply, audio amp, and an assortment of caps. electrolytic. Don't forget fuses also.

to rule out the amp, do you hear a hissing or buzzing from the speaker at all? on MK2 it should produce a very noticeable sound like that.

the other thing that you should check is by going into Test Mode, Diagnostics, and Sound Board Test. see what the message is at the bottom of that screen. if it says SOUND IRQ OK then you're in good shape I think.. going back to the amp test above, if it shows OK and you hear nothing, it's probably the amp.

if you get into a SOUND IRQ NOT DETECT (or NOT FOUND, I can't remember) then you're looking at a number of other things to check.

so find out and report back. PMing me is the best bet.

Only sound / noise is when the speaker is unplugged/plugged in.

This test does pass as it says irq good.

I did check the ribbon cable and reseated both sides, checked the voltage , which was a tad bit low. No luck.

I have another sound board from an NBA Jam game to try.

Thanks for all the input. Let you know what else I find.

MK2 and NBA Jam have entirely different sound boards.

you will need exactly another MK2 sound board, to my understanding no other game Midway made used the same one, cause I think even Revolution X's was different. maybe. lol

That is a real bummer!. Oh Well, at least the games are working and playable regardless of no sound. I will have to dig deeper.
Thanks!
