What looks funky about the sideart? At a quick glance it looks perfect.

looks fuzzy and like the colors are off to me. could be the way it was printed or how it was applied.

maybe it's just the clouds.

You'd assume the owner is on this forum.

here's an original cab:

Don't get me wrong it's nice, but it's not perfect. the bill acceptor is interesting as well as how the boards were mounted. The switcher used is not a cheap piece iirc.

Nice eye. The colors aren't perfect. That's why I'm happy with my MK 1 artwork from Rich. Very detailed.

thanks, i wasn't specifically looking for a reason to pick it apart it just didn't seem right. after looking at it more it's significantly darker (both in raidens hat and gi), and there's a lot of spots that look touched up.

I think it's a pretty cool idea. I actually kinda dig the CP. I would have done the artwork for the CP front a little different, but he might have/had more interest if he'd have just restored it to MK1 and offered it with MK2 as well.

I knew this machine would be the one being discussed here. It is nice looking, but I agree with you about keeping it as an MK1. I can only speak for myself here, but I would much rather have a cabinet with original artwork than one that is customized by a collector. I doubt he will get his money back on that.

I think it looks pretty cool.. creative, I would have done some things differently but overall I think it looks good.. He knew it was gonna cost money to do something like that.. He should just keep it..

That's actually pretty bad ass. Didn't half and half an instruction card too huh?

I just wish he would have used an MK2 cabinet instead. They are much easier to come by than an MK1. Poor MK1s are dying :(

What's wrong with that cab? It's a Rolling Thunder converted to MK. I'd say it's a pretty good job considering the American version of the Rolling Thunder cab doesn't have a lit marquee. Controls are laid out well, and the artwork looks like it's placed in a good spot.

There's nothing you can do about the speakers in that cab - the grille is mounted between the monitor and the CP. Crappy design, but someone at Atari must have thought it was cool.

I've seen WAY worse MK conversions than that one.

Yeah, it can get a bit tight for 2 person fighters. My first MAME cab was a gutted Rolling Thunder cab (hence my avatar).

The 19" monitor is kind of a pain for the group games (think: Golden Tee, fighters, etc) but for single player games it's fine. Shooters kind of suck on it though. This winter I'll be transplanting the guts into a nice Sammy 25" cab I scored cheap. Until then, my first arcade cabinet project lives on....

Yeah your right.. He should have just used a random midway cab instead of butchering that MK1.. It looks awesome but he should have used a random cab for that..
