Hi, has anyone seen a MK pcb like this one? I bought it from Holland - I haven't seen one like this before. It is a dual layer board stamped "mouse system" and possibly originated in Japan from a circular label on the board.? It was advertised as 100% working - Sure it was! Board was dead when plugged in to the cabinet. Anyway, there is a strangely place capacitor between the boards, which had one leg broken off. You can just make out the cap in the first pic about 2/3rds the way up the left edge of the board. Managed to replaced the cap.

The board is sensitive to anything to say the least. I did manage to power the thing up. It initially dispalyed poor RAM (4 number) in banks U10 to U33. The board displays bad sprite graphics. If I leave the board on for 5 minutes and then restart it everything seems to work just fine.

It is running version 2.0 from the display. The graphics are identical but the soundtracks are slightly different. Some are more or less as the original but others have been re-composed to sound like the original soundtrack. All the voices and sounds are in the correct order, etc. It's not like any of the other bootlegs I have seen.

Any ideas, opinions?

nope haven't seen that one yet, very cool. glad you got it up and running. love buying things "tested and working" just to get them with issues.

I actually just got one last week and its probably the best mk bootleg ive ever seen. If you take off the riser/sound board it looks alot like the y-unit board. Another cool note is ive got a set of turbo 3.1 roms running on mine. Crazy having a hack running on a bootleg board.

Also forgot to mention mine was running revision 2.0 as well untill I changed it to turbo 3.1. Jon do you know how to wire a kick harness or the pinout for it? I need to figure out how to for it and my yawdim bootleg boards. I guess i can do the trial and error route worst case.

Hi, I can give you the four pinouts, but not sure which one does what - the connections have been cut on mine but they left the ends on. Sorry for the picture quality. Pins 3 & 4 are on one player shoot option and 7 & 8 for two player shoot option. I can't seem to part the boards for fear of damage so the cap will just need to stay where it is for now. Have you had this version sent to MAME?

Now I don't speak Dutch but my South African wife speaks Africans (which is a mixture of Dutch & German). She tells me that "niet goed" is one letter away from saying "no good" in Africans. Honesty is always the best policy!

I agree though, this is the best bootleg version I have seen and the soundtrack is pretty good as well.

Cool. I too have never seen that. Nice snag!

Hey Mike, good news - I've been through my boards and have 4 Wolf Units. One worked when last tested, one had minor graphics fault. The other is a WWF (no EPROMs but have security chip + PLCC chips) and the other is for spares ONLY - it will fry PLCC socketed chips.

I have also found the MK hack board, which I'm going to send to SMittdog. I hope he can do me a favour in return. No U89 chip still!

I also found my 6 switcher harness - it took me a long time to build. It fits directly into the socket of the MK2 kick harness. It has 4 T-unit headers and 2 Y-unit headers, but I would switch it over to 6 T-unit headers, since Y-unit and T-unit don't mix, but work ok when played apart. There's no messing around with it - it is wired for 3 extra buttons so it will also work for the Wolf Unit MK3 boards also or an extra block in MK1 or MK2 (which I wanted). I'm thinking of selling it and since MK enthusiasts are looking at this thread, let me know if you're interested. I won't be making another out of interest - one only!

You've got the RARE version of the Kombo board! Hold on to that puppy!

I've been trying to find another like his for over a year now and cant even yield conversation or a pic of another one like it. Im dying to find out what hack it was. His big chip that fits on the kombo board was blank, he sent me the dumps he had awhile back and I dont think the u105 chip contains info as to what it was.

I just aquired it a couple weeks ago and have not sent it to mame. I dont think there is a need to as its an almost perfect bootleg of the y-unit hardware. All the main eproms have the same info as the original hardware, the only thing that might be different is the sound eproms and when I get a chance I will dump those and compare them.
