I bought a Mortal Kombat PCB to setup a Test Bench for monitors. I got the board and decided to test it in one of my two Jamma cabs. First is my Victory Road cab. Turn on the cab and nothing. The two LEDs are light on the PCB, but no video at all. Second is my Rampart cab. Hook it in there and the same thing, no picture, LEDs light. Is Mortal Kombat a special jamma? Do I need a special harness?

Do I need to make a Jamma Harness for Mortal Kombat?

Are you sure the board is good? Sometimes the graphics chips need to be reseated if you have a blank screen. Which version of MK is it?

just reseat all of them, clean the edge connector and most importantly check the solder side for touching pins.

assuming you have a Y-unit board, graphics chip is the big black one in the lower right corner. CPU is the one in the brown socket. what would be nice is if you had the sound board too to see if it's playing sound at least, but I'm going to guess you don't have that and are using this strictly for monitor patterns or whatever.

beyond that, anything else Broods suggested. though the touching pins thing, I've never really seen that on Y-unit boards. unless of course yours is a T-unit. you can identify them by the batteries, if the dipswitch bank is immediately next to the battery it's a Y-unit, and if there's a space it's a T-unit.

T-unit the graphics chip would be the one in the leftmost brown socket, DMA controller in the middle (surface mount), and CPU to the right.

enough information for you? lol

Problem solved!!!

I reseated the square chip on the lower part of the board and set the voltage according to the youtube video and bang, the board is fully working.

I do have the sound board and wiring coming, so I'll be able to play this boardset when I am not converging monitors.
