Mortal Kombat 3 Monitor Is Bad Now!!!!! What Do I DO???

Im going completly crazy, i bought new controls and joysticks for this mk3, game is off while installing them, i get to the microswitches, so i turn on machine to find out which microswitch corresponds with what, one of the switches must have touched that metal clamp on the inside of the control panel, i saw an arc, and then a faint burnt smell, i immediately run to the back of the arcade inhale the monitor chassis, and i smell nothing at all that would indicate failure. the game obviously isnt powered anymore, i check the power supply fuses, the the left one is fine, the right is burnt, i replace the right one. boot the game up, i hear the sounds, but no monitor... i turn off machine, i check fuse on chassis, its burnt, i replaced with another 250v fuse, turn game on, nothing on both ends, game or monitor. i check power supply, fuse is burnt, i check chassis fuse is perfectly fine. i replaced power supply once again, without the fuse inside thchassis, the game turns on sounds lights all that stuff, but once fuse is put into chassis and flipped on, nothing..... it keeps blowing the damn power supply fuse but not the monitors fuse.... What the hell is happening..... if you've read my posts, they are always about how my monitors are screwing me...... i Just bought this game, brought it up 3 flights of steps, ordered a bunch of restoration shit for it, and now no monitor? so now i have mk1, mk2, and mk3 all with monitors that DO NOT WORK...... maybe its me, i have horrible luck, maybe its a sign saying i need to back out of this arcade crap before it eats me alive.

im extremely down at this point, and i feel like there is no hope... please somebody help me out, suggestions, tips, advice, i can provide pictures if needed, or additional info.

thank you

It sounds like you have a grounding problem somewhere. Does it play blind without the monitor? Disconnect the monitor and check your ground wires to the control panel, lights, and the pcb and power supply. Also check your voltage on the power brick.

yes the game works fine as do the controls, marquee, and sound. the ground wire IS hooked up to the control panel like its supposed to be. power supply is giving 120 volts. but as i said before, as soon as i put a fuse in the monitor chassis and hit the power button, nothing happens, except that it blows the power supplies fuse, keeping the monitors fuse completely safe. but once fuse is removed from chassis, it works perfectly. im not sure what type of monitor it is, but what i can tell you is that it came out of an XMEN 4 player arcade, and it says MO8X on the back.... other than that, i have no clue.

Take a good clear pic of the chassis and post it.

Also, What size fuse did you put back into the chassis? If it's higher than the "monitor supply fuse" then the fuse in the bottom that is blowing is probably just that and you have a short somewhere (blown hot, fly etc.) but the chassis fuse is too big to blow and the supply fuse is going first..

Hey, ill get those pics up soon, the chassis fuse im using is a standard 250v, same as the power supply 250v.

250V is the Voltage, The current rating in amps is what is important. For instance, a 3 Amp slo blo is what you should be using for the supply fuse. Depending on which monitor you have, the chassis fuse is usually anywhere from 1.5 Amp (K7000) and higher but usually falls between 1-3 Amps. This rating is very important and should never be substituted with a larger value.
