I would say splice the letters together to get the original look. Block looks off. Use the P in jump and make a B and then use LOCK from around the panel and then it should look perfect

The block i actually hand touch up so it doesnt mesh well. If i could find the font used i could just redo them all.

Put a drop shadow behind "Block" and it'll look a lot more like the original.

Also: Why the 6 button layout for MK?

Adding MK3 7 Button

Added another layout i do have these in print format that i am uploading to megaupload.

EDIT: What started this all is that Sarconus has not provided a link to the second image (7 button MK2) so I was just going to make one using CPO of the first image and the button holes of the third image. Anyway...

I placed the two images on top of each other and compared the hole placement. I noticed that they holes all seem to be a little offset from each other (in all directions). Especially with the 2nd player bottom block button on the MK2 image. I just wanted to make sure someone double checks before having these professionally printed and then gets home and the holes don't match up. The UMK3 one seems to be much more uniform than the MK2 holes.

How I did this: I copied and pasted the UMK3 CPO onto the MK2 CPO. I then used the Magic Wand tool to remove the circles from the UMK3 CPO so you could see the MK2 CPO underneath. I then aligned the holes (the best I could) to each other to show the offsets. Like I said before, when I place a grid over the top of the UMK3 CPO, the buttons look much more uniform.

I'm not trying to knock the images. The difference may be insignificant. And Sarconus did a great job. I just wanted to point this out so it didn't give anyone any trouble.

Good job!

Just as an aside, though, is anybody with me that the Mortal Kombat 3 control panel art is one of the biggest let downs of all time? MK1, 2, looked amazing... then they brought out 3. Yuk. I've yet to see one that didn't look like it was a piece of inketted notebook paper taped on there, just looks horrible. Horrible color, design, everything.

Just printed out the template and it came out decent. I screwed up my drill holes on my cabinet board sadly but had nothing to do with the overlay itself. I used the original and over layed for button placement minus the middle button of course.

Needless to say i was upset by the failed whole drill!!!! Ill post pictures of the mess in a bit.

Here it is. You will see my major screw up on play1 side. and the button holes are off a little so that need to be fixed!

ahoy. I picked up an MK4 CP (the box and all) on ebay a couple years ago cause I needed it and was impressed with how the CPO looked on it. every time I see MK3, I cringe. the entire presentation of that cab kind of irritates me, even the side art. I wouldn't turn it down if it was in mint-ish condition though, but I think MK1 (dedicated, and not faded) and MK2 were the best though. I give MK2 the nod cause of how generic and weird MK1's CP looked. :p

good job on the art OP, I always wanted to do the 7 button layout on my showcase but felt that overall I had too many fighting games as it was and I already had an MK cab and didn't want to get redundant. the showcase received new life as a shooter, at least it'll make money like it should now. lol
