Mortal Kombat 2 Restoration

The doors are held onto the frame by four or five screws. The frame is held on with eight carriage bolts, nuts on the back side. Seven are easy to get to, the eighth one at the very bottom requires you to remove the metal plate that the coin counter is attatched to.

Cool! I am going to use this four day weekend to get this painted and work on the artwork somewhat.

So, Long time no update! I have finally got some more work done on this.

I took off the Plexiglass on top of the control panel and and cleaned and polished that up a bit. I then, removed the punch, kick, jump stickers on the control panel. After I had my wife with her precision hands, exacto knife the artwork, I managed to get the new CPO on there and it looks pretty good to me! I ordered some new buttons to go in there, and that should really make it pop. Here it is without them.

I also had the wife cut out the white space for the marque artwork, and it looks amazing! Sorry that my finger was in the shot, but I didn't notice that until I got to work this morning.

I just need to clean up the screws on the CPO, clean and paint the Coin door, replace the T molding, and track down why the player 1 down button isn't working, and I will be done with this project!

Looking good, wish I had gotten that player move bezel instead of the one I have now. I love how mine looks but it's hard to read the moves in the area that the lightning bolts pass thru and Kintaro is way to pixelated. On the security screws for the control panel, I have 10 brand spares of yours don't clean up well, just pay for shipping. Also pick up your red t-molding from twisted quarter, best color match you can find to the original

Thanks! I might take you up on the security screws, as most of mine were damaged with the tops of the caps broken off.

As for the T molding, I just picked some off of my normal Ebay seller. It looks a little darker than what is on there, but I figured that might be due to sun fade over 23 years.

The seller for the CPO and Bezel was pretty great. We had such a huge ordeal with USPS that it took me about 3 months to get the order. They literally lost the packages twice! Even with tracking information, it would just stop, and then USPS would say that the package didn't exist! Then about a week and a half later the package would arrive all busted up and damaged. This happened twice in a row! I got to give the seller some huge props for getting the stuff to me though, as they went above and beyond!

My new buttons came in, and they look awesome in there! I will take some pics as soon as I get it all wired up again!

Does anyone know of where to find the original monitor bracket carriage bolts? (Stamped "O F") also where to get these security screws for the cpo? I am in the middle of restoring my MKII and UMK3.

By the way to the OP, your MKII looks great!

Thanks! This might be the best looking machine that I have ever had when I get done with it!

No problem. Glad I could point a fellow MKII restore in the right direction!
Progress of the three restores I am currently working on. Waiting on the cpo and lexan for mk4 and then they all just need to be put together!

Hope to see some more updates to this thread!

I should be able to get this put back together this weekend and finished up! I am excited to get this done and play some games on it!

So here is where I am at. I have the machine reassembled, and it looks awesome!

However, looks aren't everything. Through game play, I have discovered that I only have Block, High Punch, and High Kick. The Low Punch and Low Kick buttons just do the same thing as the High Punch and High Kick buttons. This along with the fact that player one down doesn't seem to be working has me to believe that I might have this stuff hooked up incorrectly or that the harness is wrong for the game. (I should note that they had converted this into a Rampage World tour when I got it). Here is a pic of the hook up from the Control panel to the PCB.

Any ideas on what to try? I am almost through with this project, and the control issues are the last thing left to fix!

Going to need more pics of the control panel but your connections seem correct. The player one and two low punch and low kicks are the blue wires. Try them again as there is not a huge difference between high and low seen on the screen. As for p1 down, get an ohm meter and check continuity between the joystick microswitch connector and jamma edge connector. If u have continuity then check the ground the same way, post results

Ok. I will check that out this week and see what I can find.

One more thing, what about that last connector? I don't really have a plug for that in the control panel.

There is no connection for the last one, should be marked player four. . . And what Zeno said!
