Game: Mortal Kombat 2 Dedicated (Original)
Model: 27" SONY - R (KTMF2623M) <<-- That's what the sticker says. Not sure if that's right.

I'm getting some distortion. The screen is squished on the top, bottom and right. I have tried using the adjustments pictured below with no luck.

Distortion is apparent when viewing the squares which are all supposed to be the same size:

Logo is squished on the top and there is black space:

Right player is distorted and player squares are different sizes:

Image Adjustment 1:

Image Adjustment 2 (which I have not tried adjusting):

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm leaning towards your monitor being one of those Sharp Image ones. the adjustments you seek are not going to be on your remote adjustment board or on the flyback (the black box thing). instead, they will probably be pots on the actual deflection board (the chassis) for Horizontal Linearity (this will fix the squishing to the right) and Vertical Linearity (this will fix the squishing on the top).

most here will probably tell you "install a cap kit!" but caps won't do that... at least not in the way that you won't be able to adjust it. :)

I don't know anything about those kinds of monitors though, sorry. and I highly doubt it's a 27". they shipped with 25", and were either WG K7000s or Hantarex Polos. yours was an aftermarket drop-in monitor.

That has to be a 25" in there, the bezel is spaced normally. IF someone jammed a 27" in there they would have also had to drill more holes in the sides of the cab since the monitor mounts are bolted on from the outside.

Thanks! I'll try that out.

:p Yes, I know this was posted 9 years ago, but I still have the machine and I honestly didn't remember anyone replying. Right now the machine has been collecting dust in my garage for a very long time. Sad, really.

Hello there. I am finally getting around to fixing this issue. I have taken pictures of the inside the best I can (gallery: ). I do not see a horizontal or vertical linearity pot anywhere. I am in the process of searching the web to see if I can get this sorted out myself. In the mean time, I thought I'd reach out. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

The service tag does seem to match with mecha's note about it being a Sharp Image 27" monitor. I'm extremely new to all of this so I'm curious as to how you make out with it as well.

Out of curiosity, what's the pot labeled in this picture (circled in red)?

wow, me 10 years ago. what a knucklehead. LOL you have a Kortek something, maybe it is a Sharp Image rebrand. I genuinely don't know what does, if it's a B+ adjustment I think that might be moderately reckless they didn't seal it. look around the heatsink surrounding the flyback, should be a KT- model tag around there somewhere. I don't do anything with these so I don't really know, maybe KenLayton or Ohmerone can weigh in.

I was passing by and saw this thread maybe I can
share my Experience

These models chassis are used on different size tube's
in different games.

Your Chassis is missing the Pincushion Board
do you see the Male plug? near back of chassis
Its a small board needed to control the Pin amp
transistor that's on the Heatsink

Do you see the Small transistor covered with the
Thermo Pad on the Top side
on the FBT heatsink ?
it has a quick disconnect plug.

The board will give the adjustments you need
to correct the over all geometry.
I find the Pin Amp Transistor to fail and would
be part of my get well kit
to replace it as well, but you do need the Pin bd
mainly to control the Pin-Amp Transistor
On 27" or higher Size Tube.
Good Luck!
