I've been trying to find info on this, but have come up short. I would like to know what the speaker assembly for Mortal Kombat 2 looks like. According to the manual, it has:

Tweeter speaker (4 Ohm, 15W)
6" Speaker (4 Ohm, 25W)
Cap. 10uf, non-pol, 50V, 20%

The cap assembly is what I'm most curious about. I haven't been able to find any pics or info on this. I want to build an authentic reproduction so I'd like to get the sound right, but I'm also wondering how different it would sound if I installed two 8 Ohm, 5W speakers like what you find all over ebay when you look up arcade speakers. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I put an 8 ohm woofer in mine as like most of these cabs, my original was rotten. I did this in both my MK1 and MK2 and they both sound great. The 8 ohm speakers are just a little bit quieter which isn't noticeable once the volume is turned up. The 8 ohm speaker is also easier on the amp. Speakers came out of old big screen TV's. The small bipolar cap on the tweeter is basically a bass blocker so the tweeter doesn't blow up. One side of the cap connects to the positive on the tweeter and then the positive speaker wire connects to the other side of the capacitor.

Thanks for the clarification. It's all making sense now. By amp, do you mean the sound board? Or do you have a separate amp running from the harness? Forgive my noob question, I just thought you were supposed to wire the speakers directly from the Jamma harness. Thanks again :)

I can answer this question from a stock point of view. The sound amp for an original MK II setup is on the separate sound board. This connects to the main PCB which then puts out the sound through the JAMMA harness.

I'm not sure if he's using some custom setup or not, but it would be interesting if he was!
