Ok. I received some full side art scans from "ctozzi". The scans were sub-par in the fact that there were steaks on Johnny's spandex pants where someone tried to clean the sides before scanning and both sides are about 25% faded. I don't think anyone would be happy with the way they looked before or after they were printed. So...

I decided to fix them up. Man, what a hassle.

The rundown...

I left the monitor bolts on the image to help line it up correctly when it's applied to the machine. I had to re-do the black of JC's spandex pants because there were streaks in them where someone tried to clean the art and just ended up leaving streaks like on a window. Some of the black outlines around the dragon may look like they don't flow smoothly, but I followed the black lines and that's how they actually were. The edges of the art (around the outer edges) are a little sloppy, as far as not being straight, but that's ok because when they are cut out, the "cutter" can make them straight when they get cut. Make sense?

These images are NOT perfect, but for what they are, they will totally be usable...in my opinion.

The background color is as accurate as possible with what I can sample from the real sideart on my non-faded dedicated MK1. I chose not to fade the red as it went up to the top because frankly it was beyond my ability and I think this looks pretty damn close to factory anyway the way it is.

Regardless, here they are in sample form for the time being. Unfortunately....I am in Afghanistan right now and only have access to a wireless dial-up connection that severely limits my ability to upload large files. I will try and get the large originals uploaded for everyone, but for the time being, these samples will have to wet your appetite.

I hope they meet with your approval. I will edit the post when I get the full size images uploaded.

EDIT:

Here is the full res/size artwork. I could not upload them together in one .rar due to aforementioned internet issue. Please feel free to post your criticisms/appreciation/opinions on this thread. I am interested to hear them. Thanks and enjoy!...

I'd like that... where's the best place to send for actual production?

That's awesome! I wouldn't mind these as well Mike, I've decided I want to convert my MK4 into a dedicated MK1. :)

Just to clarify, I did not make the side art, I got them emailed to me. However after Mike is done I will be printing these up full size for this MK1 I'm in the process of restoring back

Sweet man! Can't wait to see the finished products...:)

I would be interested as well when you get done. This rocks and would be awesome for my naked midway cab.

I found these scans on the net as well. They are good quality if you ask me but the colors were off, too dark at the top, not the normal dark red color but more black than anything. Just picked up a great condition MK1 but the right is faded half way up and thats the only real damage to it, so I am very happy to see someone touching these up to make them look better. I will be printing them out once this is done. Thanks for taking the time. I will keep an eye on this thread definitely.

I found the exact correct colors and am 90% done with fixing the art up. I will post a sample and a link when they are done. Stay tuned...

will the touched up ones still have the pixelation from screening like the original? just wondering i still want a copy either way.

I hope so, best to keep it as original as possible but like you I will take it either way

The only thing that will not be pixelated is the red background. To restore it with pixelation, I would have had to click EVERY pixel that was supposed to be red and that would have taken a millennium!

So, I simply just redid the red background in the correct color. JC, the dragon, MIDWAY, and the other stuff will still be pixelated.

After i get the files and print them, i'll install them for everyone to see the quality before they spend $$. With my many dealings with zeno (mike) in the past, everything like i try to do, is top notch. Look for some videos and pictures soon on the art. These are basically the last remaining MK art the community has been asking for, and asking for years.

Thanks Chris. I need to finish the MIDWAY and mirror the image and I'll be done.

Sounds like a job for a computer - a fairly easy one. Do you have a copy where you did the touch ups, but before doing the red out of curiosity?

I am interested in your final product entirely, but would like the data to work on some day if I choose to if you have progressively saved your work.

Yes, I have the originals, but they are 1.4gb and with my limited internet connection, I can't get them to you until I am home from Afghanistan at the first of March. Shoot me a message around that time and I can send them to you. Try and contact ctozzi. He was the one who gave me the originals. He may still have the link for you to download them.

Thank you for your work. They look great. If I knew how to go about it I would take up the task of leaving the pixels in tact and fading the color but its beyond my skills unfortunately.
