More Tron LE unboxing photos....

Holy hell, what do you do for a living?!

According to his profile, Pete is a High School Teacher. I got out of teaching because I wasn't getting paid enough. Dude, what district are you working for? Cash Money Unified?

hell, i married a doctor and i don't even have a pin row like that!!! :)

You guys crack me up. =)

Yes, I'm a school teacher, and so is my wife.

In short, you are looking at years and years of hard work and luck. Buying games cheap, fixing and selling stuff to fund the next purchase. Also, getting some bulk purchases, and not getting hung up on details that scare sellers away.

It's not like somebody dumped several hundred thousand dollars in my lap, and I just bought all these games a few months ago. I'm extremely good with my money, and my wife is fantastically supportive.

Other factors: I don't drink, I don't smoke, I've never done drugs, we don't have kids, and I won't spend more than $1500 on a vehicle. I do my own car repairs. (Cars are such a phenomenal waste of money....why spend $15k+ on a vehicle to sell it years later and take a $10k bath on it? I'd rather spend $1000 on a car, and if it gets totally screwed, I'll only lose $500 on it. Much smarter).

Hopefully this explains things. Nope, I'm not rich...really anybody could do what I do as long as they work hard and have patience!

Pete

I had a rich friend tell me once "cheap cars and expensive houses"...She drove an 80's model truck and lived in a paid off 4K square foot house.

Pete I love the room/layout dude it is amazing! Maybe some day I will get a chance to visit for a couple years lol.

good for you.

how long/wide is that area of yours? i have a basement that looks like it's very similar in layout...only problem is, i have some more doors/missing walls, so the most i'd be able to squeeze in (and still keep my pool table) is 15. i have 8 right now....should be nine by next weekend when dracula gets here. :)

again though......faneffingtastic lineup/layout. way, way cool.

LMAO !! is that what you were panning up to ? was trying to figure out what that was, or am I seeing something else?

oh, and don't get cocky... ;)

Naw, not trying to be cocky. That was more of a "Holy crap, this guy is even dorkier than I thought!" type of comment.

Yes, the pan upward was of the elevator. If you want to see absolutely thrilling videos of the elevator, here you go:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6ekiLykpDQ (View from the basement)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5m1vn1_1hs (Coming back up).

So....not really a traditional elevator, but it will hold well over 3,000 lbs (and lets be honest, I'll never be able to put that much weight on it anyhow). I designed it with a bunch of Amish guys, who thought it was much more fun to build than a pole barn for the millionth time.

When we added on to the house, I kept thinking....you know, I'm not going to be young forever, and lugging these things up and down the stairs gets heavy after a while!

So, I planned the elevator, and my back thanks me for it on a daily basis.

The new basement addition as 16'x64ft. The old basement arcade was more of a backward "L" shape. (Our laundry room was down there....when we added on, it got moved to the main floor, leaving me with a totally kick-butt workshop).

Old arcade was something like 900 sq.ft. I could definitely be wrong....it's been a while since I measured it.

The new layout is more like a big "U" shape, with the old laundry room/my new workshop in the middle.

I'll see if I can dig up a design layout pic from when I was planning everything.

PMWolf, that elevator is hysterical. So funny the lengths we go for this hobby (i would do it if i needed it!)

Very nice job. Did you build it?

I was j/k about the the cocky part, I know were all just having fun, you sir have a awesome game room. now Ive seen it all, Pinball elevators :)

wow, what a great collection of pins/cades you have there pete! just finally watched your youtube vid. love the arcade wing as well as the pinball room. that gumball machine is a nice touch too.

im guessing you started with arcade collecting then moved over to the dark side (the pinside) :)

i myself started collecting only arcades... but as time goes by now all i want is pins!! damn you pins!!! aghh.

forget about cax, all i would need is that basement of yours. bravo pete! chris

ok. my basement is 45'x17'. i've got several doors openings and missing walls though, so the actual "pinball wall space" is quite a bit less than yours.

i have a separate arcade room, which is a converted storage type area under the stairs. i have 5 machines in there and they fit comfortably. the five that i've settled on are all i want as far as arcades go, so i'm good there.

i also have a pool table at one end of the basement, so that takes away a pretty decent amount of space and then there's the tv area.

i think i can fit 8 total on the one wall where i currently have 7 pins sitting....then another 4 on the opposite short wall.....then another 3 pins on another short wall. that would give me 15 total, which wouldn't be a bad number.

oh, and i have no elevator. ;)

Pete,
You are running out of room! Let me know if you want to clear out a spot in the early Williams DMD wing of your collection :)

I might have missed it, but Pete what is the dimensions of the pin hall? Also curious if you're planning another addition some day because it looks like you're almost out of space.

Edit: Nevermind found it 16 X 64.... That's awesome dude.
