More than one room for games

3 rooms in the house. My house is really weirdly laid out, all the uprights are on ground level. So what would be living room and dining room. The basement room is really small. It is my "living room". It's nice, carpeted, comfy furniture, and 4 Nintendo tables pressed together to make a large "coffee" table.

Fourth room if you count one half of the garage. If you can't tell, I don't currently have anyone to stop me from organizing my house the way I want to.

My games originally occupied a smaller room in the basement (had been an office/guest room — about 11x13), but they have spilled out into the adjacent larger space.

Truthfully I'm eventually going to undo the home theater area and migrate games into that space, and the "back room" might become dedicated to pinball if I start collecting those or something like that.

Sometimes I wish I was like other arcade collectors. A garage full of great games just ready to play an instance but being one of those kids who dealt with bullies and gang bangers. I tend to be antisocial. Which is kind of funny since I host arcade repair parties still.

I tend to be happiest with my collection when I am repair them. I use to open my collection to the neighborhood until some ass down the street made a sick comment. So I closed my doors and went back to just repairing my arcade machines.

Typically I should repair them and maybe one day i will sell them but I do not seeing me doing that in the near future. There a reasons why I do not like selling. I can not tell you how many lies I have heard from some people. I do not deal very well with liars.

An arcade machine just sitting in storage is a horrible fate. Arcade machines should be pressed into use so they can make great memories of playing with arcade machines.

So what do I do with a bunch of working arcade machines? I lend them to friends. 12 at a time for a year or two. I get cheap storage..the arcade machines get the play with creating memories for others.

This explains why I have multiples of the same machine. Everyone wants a mspacmam/pacman machines. Multiple gauntlet machines cause there is always some ass who doesn't want to play well with others. LoL.

While people scream hoarder around me, I have grown deaf to that noise. I collect for me and all my collection have to do in return is to give me happy memories. Friend and family faces when they borrow the arcade machines and they have arcade theme parties. They joy of fixing a stubborn repair. The super fustration of doing electronic math to calculate what signal should be there. The schematics lie! Laughs. The search of that rare ic chip to get the arcade machine going again. Not sadder than a pile of pcb board with notes of what is wrong with them.

I have been told I have taken my friends kicking and screaming down the arcade addiction hole but the funny thing is none of them want to return the arcade machines..

Alpha-tron creating arcade addicts since 1982 laughs.

So yes my collection is scattered. From friends homes,to automotive shops and even a few high rise buildings.

One room. The garage. We had my Q*bert cocktail in the house for a short while, just long enough so I could make space in the garage. Personally, I hate the cocktail format, so I think I will be selling it soon to make a little more room in the garage for maybe one or two more games that I actually played as a kid.

My nine are in the basement next to the bar. It's a square area, with sconces on two walls, plenty of lighting and plenty of room.

I'd be up to 14 or 15, but I'd have to lose half my income and around 120 lbs. And I said "till death do us part" so that isn't happening.

LIFE GOALS
Neighbor's house across the way was for sale. There was a thought about buying It just for the arcades. If it was the other Neighbor's property I would have in a heart beat.. 6 car garage with a mother in law suit in the back.

The early arcade group of friends. I tracked down this 3 bedroom ranch house with two, yes two. Two story barns in the backyard in riverside. Old farm house with it's own wells. I would have filled up the barns by now. I tend not to collect large games but if I had the space I would chase after all those driving games and ride simulation machines.

It's out of control.

43 - Basement
32 - Garage
20 - Parents Basement
8 - Parents Garage
30 - Storage
1 - shed
1 - friends arcade

I think I may have a problem.
Per oom counts for my setup

Arcade Main 1 - 16
Arcade Main 2 - 12
Cocktail room - 3
Pool Room - 3
Hallway - 6
Garage - 13 (Though four aren't mine)
Shed - 3

I just bought a new house and will be getting my games out of storage after 2 long years. I plan on the garage, the family room, and one bedroom to be games. Hoping they all fit 🤞. I also have a couple in my office. The thing I am most excited about with the new place is I will have a dedicated work station for working on the games. I can't wait to get it all set up.

I don't like random things scattered all over. I guess I like a cohesive feel. When I see people with games all over their house it turns me off immediately. To me that says 'hoarder' more than 'collector'.

100% this.

Before I moved to CA, all of my games (with the exception of the projects/games in storage) were in the main space of my apartment.
(Which is part of the reason I was particular about restoring every game I brought in as they are always present, like furniture.)

The Red Tent would get tucked away and then pulled out during parties.

Those games are now in storage in MN and will eventually go into our MN house/arcade when that time comes. As for the games here, I think the goal is ultimately the same for @CarrieZ and me. The bulk of her games are in her garage. We recently had three additional 20amp circuits added to her garage for better/more power. We're in the process of moving Ringer in there and revamping things a bit while we prep for the Halloween crowd. At the moment, there are a few games in her house until we can make room for them (Klax cabaret, Fire Escape, I, Robot, Megatouch) but eventually we'd like to have everything in one dedicated space.

Things are a bit of a mess at the moment as we're shifting things around for Halloween decorations, so forgive the non-lit photos.
