Have a tempest that has worked great for some time. It was bought fully restored and recapped. Even all the ram chips are zip tied to the sockets.
The display went out, and it played blind. I re-seated the pcb board interconnect, and it worked again. Then it stopped again a day later. The screen is blank, and it does not play blind anymore. It is a boat anchor.
I flipped the test switch on, and the test screen comes up ok. All the buttons check good, no errors. I go out of test mode, and just a blank black screen. Just one time switching back and forth between test mode did the normal screen flash up on the screen for just a second, and then blank. No blind play either.
The test mode working leads me to believe it is not a monitor display issue. I checked pcb board interconnect, and cleaned and reseated the 2 pcb edge connectors. I did not reseat all the rom chips, because i am afraid of breaking them. I have a tempest tubes chip I put in every now and then. Maybe I need to reseat the normal game chip. It is not zip tied to the PCB. Any ideas?
Thanks
Rick
