Another thread in this section has multiple people today asking for more smilies.

I'm fine with that... generally, provided that smilies don't get too overused.

The big question is...

animated smilies... Are they obnoxious? Should I keep all of those out of here for the most part?

Animated ones would be nice to have, don't think they're obnoxious at all, of course I'm one of the posters who adds a smiley to just about every post... :D
It's not like people don't already post them here copying them from other sources.

I like them. Animated ones are fine too for the most part unless they really distract.

There are a few avatars one the site that when I see them they just give me a headache, constant rapid movement in the corner of your eye is really distracting when you are trying to read. It is not just here though, not picking on anyone because I feel the same way about other sites I visit too.

I think everyone knows I use tons of smilies  The more the merrier!! Please, please, please add more smiley fun for us!!:)

You should find a few more to play with... try clicking 'more' next to the smilies when you are posting a message. You might have to maximize the screen.

:lmao:

Any way to throw some of the retro ones back into the mix? I kinda miss these little guys...

Course, some of these new ones are pretty funny, too. Look at this guy go:

:joyman:

Well... I guess that's supposed to be a joystick... but, still.

This is the part I never found out as I type the few smilies I know and they show up as smilies but I do not see a palet to choose from.
There are smilies to choose from that will display next to the message but I see none that I can choose to include in the text

Go here and look at them...

http://forums.klov.com/misc.php?do=showsmilies

Then you type the :specialword: between the colons inline and it will insert the smily for you.

:blinky: :pacman:

That's actually the hard way (at least for the ones you don't use regularly). I remember after the forum upgrade there being a place where you could pick how "advanced" of an interface you want for posting. By default I think it didn't show smilies, but you can change it so you see a bunch of smilies, and only have to click on one to insert it in your message. Click the "options" link in User CP, and scroll to the bottom of the page.

Yeah, I missed the quick pick panel after the upgrade. I will have to go turn that back on. The link I posted is nice because I now have a web archive of it that opens instantly with no downloading of images for quick searching. :)

Any way to set favorite forums like the old version? I hate seeing all the ones I am no interested in...
