So apparently GameStop decided that because there is a free OnLive copy of Deus Ex in every PC version of the game, and because OnLive is a competitor of GS (it is?), they were opening all copies and removing the coupon and selling those opened copies as New.

First off, I don't see how OnLive is a competitor of GameStop. If it is, then so is Steam, right? So why didn't they do this with Portal 2? (Oh I see, they acquired some steaming service recently...well whatever)

Now they aren't opening copies anymore and selling them, they just refuse to sell any copies until a version is released without the coupon. Square Enix should just tell them to fuck off.

Anyway, just keep digging your grave, GameStop. I can't wait for the day you are crushed under your own bullshit.

That's ridiculous. I hate GameStop. I cringe every time my nephews say they bough a game there. I then yell at their parents. When will people learn???

well if there anything like capcom they will keep fucking themselves and thinking there doing what the fans want, and we wont see any change.

Gamestop is one store I don't mind if they close their doors forever! What a absolute shithole of a franchise!

After years of getting screwed out of pre-order bonus items and games arriving late, I finally decided to just take advantage of Amazon's pre-order offers. You usually get 5 dollars in credit for doing it, your pre-order bonus and release date shipping. (For free) No need to call Gamestop because they don't know if their getting their shipment in or not, you can track it yourself.

No point to preordering when Walmart is across the street. I dont even see a reason to go into Gamestop I resell my games on Ebay and noone jams preorders down my throat at Walmart.

Gamestop has definitely become a company that doesn't care about it's customers. They only care about pre-orders and one-uping the competition at any cost.

The last time I bought a game there was OoT 3D. But I traded in a game and I actually got more credit than I paid for which usually never happens. So I was able to get OoT 3D for basically half off.

But under normal circumstances, I honestly can't remember the last time I actually bought a game there. It's much more convenient for me to pre-order (w/ occasional bonuses) or buy games on Amazon Prime. And Amazon doesn't try to talk me into pre-ordering more games.

I almost wonder how console gaming will progress in the next couple of years. Capcom sucks. Gamestop sucks. Nintendo 3DS is failing. I don't see the Wii-U doing much better. What else?

The only time I ever buy anything from GS is for preorder exclusives. Even then, Amazon usually has the preorder bonus I prefer, but sometimes GS has what I want.

But that's it, and even then I cry myself to sleep knowing that I gave them my money.

I cant believe you guys dont have smaller game shops to do business with.

I have a place called Slackers CD's and Games who have multiple St. Louis locations and are great to buy from.

I pre-ordered Black ops from them and my buddy pre-ordered from gamestop across the street. When I went to pick up my game at midnight my buiddy came over in his car and seen that the Slackers lot was empty besides me and 1 other person. The Gamestop lot was packed with a couple hundred people. Needless to say I was at home playing my game before anyone at Gamestop even got a copy. My buddy ended up buying his at Slackers and returning his pre-order.

They still dont give you top dollar for a trade but its usually better then Gameshit.

GameStop has put most of them out of business here in Houston. The few I used to frequent are either gone or too far from me now. I did find a shop the other day that looks like it might be good and it's not too far from me. I need to check it out but haven't had the need to yet.

hows the amazon preorder work? do you pay the whole thing off to pre order?

You just place your order, but it doesn't charge your account until it ships. You can cancel anytime during that time.

Yep and if the price drops, or a pre-order bonus is added after you order, you'll automatically be included in that promotion/get that price.

I get all my games from Amazon... but that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

Fmonk almost got it... but I forgot the game at my desk when I met him.

No one's going to give you too much for trade-ins, they don't know how long they are going to have to sit on the thing before it sells (if it ever sells). Nice that they are beating GameStop's values.
