Hi all!

I am trying to set up a Michael Jackson's Moonwalker cabinet. I'm using a 3 player cabinet that originally housed pit fighter and then was converted to Rampart.

I have the game wired up correctly as far as I can tell, jamma with the extra player output connector. The issue is this:

When set to 3p mode, the game works well, except for the controls. Every button press and every directional stick movement all press 3p attack and 3p dance at the same time. I mean that literally all directions do this. Every press will, in order, start 3p only, then use up Michael's 2 dances, and then allow me to attack and do charged attacks.

if I set the game to 2p then no buttons on any stick work.

it seems like a simple wiring issue for sure, but I've gone over the wires at least 3 times and everything appears to be plugged up properly. I can't figure this out. Could there be something wrong with the board?

Thanks in advance for any help :)

Sounds like a grounding issue with your 3p wires. Double check your micro switches are wired correctly.

check the voltage on the switches and check to make sure they precharge to approximately 5 volts before activated and triggered when they go to approx zero. I had a switch problem like that on another type of game and it was low just barely enough to register as not pressed but when other switches were pressed it dragged down the precharge enough to read as pressed

I will check both of those again, thanks. I will update if it really is a switch issue, but just in case it isn't, are there any board side ideas?

note that the rampart game worked fine before I swapped it to Moonwalker

Hi all!

so I replaced the switches on the control panel with new ones. Still the same issue. Every direction and button on the control panel presses all 3 of p3's buttons.

Any other thoughts? And thanks in advance :)

Sorry to necro, but I'm in the exact same situation. I bought a pitfighter , wired my own connector for 3P, and it does the same weird thing with a controls . Makes no sense to me. I also tried connecting just ground and start button with individual wires to a button, and I can't get that to fire.

But when I have the whole connector attached it seems like button 2 (Dance) might be permanently firing , and it seems like every button makes MJ go UP

Edit: I solved it, and the new connector confirmed.

My Pit Fighter, which I'm 99% sure is stock, has extra wiring in the Jamma harness that doesn't match the manual. (The manual also says a test + service button should be there, but aren't!!!)

Pins 26, 27, and I think c and d were fully wired on my harness even though they don't do anything on PF.

Also there's a bunch of grounds in the PF that seem unnecessary, such as a ground going from the 3P connector to the cabinet itself (with a QD).

I disconnected the extra wires from the CP and also that 3P-->cabinet ground, and now Moonwalker 1P-2P-3P all control normally.
