Moon Patrol Restoration

It looks incredible. A great view into the process for those of us who've not tackled it yet. You've got a great eye for cab art too! The Berzerk & Make Trax alongside Moon Patrol will be gorgeous. Throw a Scramble into the mix for that extra push over the cliff. Thanks for the updates.

Not to mention my Robotron which is next :)

Finished the coin doors. Lightly sanded, primed and painted with Satin Black. Cleaned all the coin door wiring/parts etc. Removed all the rust from the monitor adjustment reflection panel with brillow pad/water. Now you can actually see whats going on.

Cleaned the back of the marquee with glass cleaner, pretty dirty. Cleaned the front with magic eraser and it shines again (probably could use rubbing compound to make it super shiny). Transformer now finished. Painted the base Satin White but taped off the tested/date stamps so you can still see them. Repainted the transformer Satin Black. Added a 5v pot to the power supply (did this awhile ago and the process is in the technical thread area) here: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=367490 New speaker (Mikes Arcade I believe), ballast (to stop the loud humming) and a new light (all added awhile back). All of the wiring in the cabinet has been wiped down with a damp/simple green cloth and looks like new.

I am debating whether to do the monitor wash. I want to but worried a little about ruining something and the drying out. I do not have a compressor to blow it out so it would have to sit for a long time before a trusted turning it on. Any thoughts?

This is looking great. Moon Patrol is just one of the best looking cabs IMO.

Are you going to go with a bright colored T-molding? I've seen everything from green to blue to yellow on these.

Going to stick with the original black leather texture. I already have it. Just have not put it on yet.

if it works fine and no odors i would not do it, you can take a dry paint brush and remove most of the dirt.

I do it for EVERY game I have. Take it out. Use Simple Green and a paintbrush. Soak that puppy, wipe it with the brush, repeat ad nauseam. Then soak that puppy with a water hose. No spraying just soak it. Turn it on it's side in the sunlight for 2 days.

It will look brand new and run just like before.

The only thing to be careful about is the aqua-dag. Just check a small spot first to make sure it's not water soluble

I stuck with my normal brush down of the monitor. It looks good. One day I will do the wash but wanted to get it done, in the cabinet and play it. Monitor shroud was cleaned and is back on. I sealed the bezel with Krylon MAXX clear coat. It was cracked/flaked in some areas. It's not really that noticeable when on the game. New leather textured t-mold ready to go.

New foam seal across the control panel. Sponge Window Seal adhesive backed from Home Depot. Its a little thicker than the old that was falling off and not sticking anymore. T-molding going on, don't forget to cut your notches for the turns. The old back doors are still good just a little thicker and fuzzy around the edges. I went back and forth whether to use them. I may in the future since they are original. New cut back doors primed and ready for paint.

Now in the Williams lineup. Robotron is to the left waiting for a restore.
