I've been working on the restoration for about a month now and I'm finally hitting the home stretch and thought it would be a good time to post a few pictures, mainly because today I had the first stencil reveal and I couldn't be happier. I hope to finish the remaining stencil work this weekend and have it all together by next weekend.

Thanks
Greg

Lookin good! I'm jealous, Moon Patrol was one of my childhood favorites! I always ran right to that game on birthdays at the Organ Grinder Pizza place.

Think about spraying a layer of satin clear coat on your stencil work if you have any differences in finish between your colors. I did a Burgertime recently, and the satin clear really tied every layer together. Made it look like a poster rather than layered art. I also think it gives a little radius to the sharp stencil edges. I used about whole rattle can per side.

Awesome project. Love the Moon Patrol Artwork. With mine, when I was finished, I used a power buffer and Turtle wax to protect it, polish it and give it an even sheen. Just make sure you give the paint a week's curing time before waxing it. Otherwise you'll put swirls in the finish and your buffer mitten will be covered in a baby blue hue. Also, make sure to hand rub any nooks and crannies thoroughly, or they will appear white and/or hazy. The turtle wax finish looks good in both Natural and artificial light:

Looks great! I would love to have one myself.

Instead I have to settle on my Atari 800 version, but at least I have something to play when the urge hits.

Moon Patrol

Thanks guys, I hope to get the yellow done today with new picutres tomorrow. I have been contemplating spaying a satin poly as a final finish, I have a test piece I did and want to see how that comes out before spraying the whole cabinet.

By the way Phet - seeing yours a few months ago was the real reason I started this restoration, always loved the game as a kid, once I saw yours I knew I had to have one, luckily I found one cheap and quickly.

Greg

PS - Now I need This Old Game to get that repo bezel finished, mine is in really poor condition.

Update

So I was able to get the yellow done on one side this afternoon, there are a few small blemishes, but nothing you can see from a foot away. While I was waiting for the paint to set, I finished up the upper speaker mount, I tried my best to match the orginial plastic mesh that covered it by using a nylon pet screen material.

Thanks
Greg

Daddy like.

Hey greg.. look close at your stencils, there was a small set of stickers with the R trademark sticker that goes in that one yellow dot by the Williams text. Hope you didn't toss it by accident :(

TM Stickers

Prok - I haven't tossed anything out, but I don't remmeber seeing them - were they attached to anything or just in the mailing tube. I'll go back through everything and look again.

Additionally, I sent you a follow-up email on Missile Command.

Thanks
Greg

I am currently turning an empty Joust cab into a Multi Williams and used metal screen on my speaker panel.
It came prebent on all 4 corners and was made to the dimensions I requested.
It came with semi gloss anodized finish.
It was a little pricey at $42.00 but it looks awesome.
