Moon Patrol Restoration

Swing both ways do ya ;)

I believe you might be thinking about your friend Fritz? I've heard that he'll even swing it around in circles if you ask him nicely.

Actually, I just discovered a great Rustoleum spray paint. Painter's Touch 2X coverage. Awesome stuff.

wow, that dark blue is rustoleum ? looks like a good match if it is.

The color is a little darker and a bit more vibrant, but I really like the way it looks. The paint itself has great properties, and the spray nozzle kicks ass over the standard rattle can nozzle. I'm using the same brand for my upcoming Joust resto.

Might have to check that stuff out. Where did you get it ?

I got mine at Menards, but I found the stuff I used on line too:

Just make sure not to get it too thick. One coat is usually enough. I did 2 coats on this MP, like I always have, and it got a little thick. Not a big deal when covering a whole surface, but it does cause a decent sized ridgeline when doing stencils. I'll be sticking with one coat for the other side.

after it's all painted don't worry about the sheen.. do what williams did and coat the whole thing in a semi gloss clear so everything's consistent

What semi-gloss clear would you recommend spraying over a water based finish?

Just found my in-between pics. These are from after the bondo and sanding, before the primer:

Damn Phet I might have to borrow that stencil kit you're making me want to fully restore my MP. It's not as rought as yours started though. Hmmmm Let's see how your's turns out.

Wish it was that easy. These are one time use stencils. You'd be borrowing a sticky ball of paper. And way to put the pressure on me.

Did you spray the light blue and black? Or is it rolled on?

I'm using the same brand for my upcoming Joust resto.

Let me know if you find a good color match in these cans for Joust. I am getting ready to re-paint mine as well.

You can usually roll the base coat...if you use the right type of roller that doesn't leave marks..that way you can easily blend the paint if your not experience using a paint gun..it turns out very nice when you do multiple light coats...I have a paint place near me that can mix any colors and put them in spray paint cans for you....which is perfect for stencils..you can roll the base coat and then spray the art..which turns out perfect ....
Nice job Phet...I'm loving the Williams resto....I need to get moving on my project bubbles.....I'm going to experiment with a few different clears to find what goes best with the paint I use...

Oh yeah, got the yellow stencil done on one side. This one didn't quite as smoothly as the blue one did, but I can easily fix the flubs, like paint peeling up with the stencil in a few places. I got a bit eager and lifted it too soon. Oh well, it looks good:
