So I got my MP HSS Kit on Friday last week. I thought I should install it right away, but didn't. Went to play the game once before I installed it, had my best game ever. But since I hadn't installed the kit, no one will ever know about it. What are the odds? BTB, that was the first time I had ever seen the rolling boulders during an actual game. I always see them in attract mode but never saw them in a game. Cool level.

So far my highest score with the kit (68K) was on the beta version, so it's not on the final kit that will be in my machine from now on...

I just cracked 40K on this most recent run. May not sound like a whole hell of a lot of points, but I rarely get time to focus on playing. I am either watching kids, restoring machines or getting yelled at by my wife. She has a special radar that lets her know when I am playing one of my games. She thinks if I have time to waste doing that, I have time to waste sitting in the same room as her in case she might need me to fetch her something from the kitchen.

Jesus, wait 'til you get to the rolling boulders on the Champion course. Four of 'em in a row, with one leading slightly and the next three tightly packed together (to keep you from just jumping over all four of them), very closely followed by another three in a row. If you don't shoot fast and time both your jumps perfectly *and* get the distance exactly right on the first jump so you can shoot the first boulder of the second set before immediately jumping again, you are dead meat. Again, and again, and again. You'll wanna put your fist through the screen.

Actually, that's more like irony. An oxymoron is two contradicting words put together. Just in case your balls hadn't already been busted enough :)
cheers

I know it's irony, but I like the word oxymoron better. I also like the term Bitchkitty and will probably use that one for my next HSS thread.

Yep, I know that... I play maybe 2 games of Moon Patrol a month. As long as I can still get to the Champion Course I'm happy. I haven't got to the boulders on that course yet.

Just keep playing. A once in a lifetime game will come along. It will happen.

I had it happen on two of my games recently. My scores were nearly double my previous high scores, and these are games I have played on and off for nearly 30 years.

much safer and easier to slow all the way down, shoot all but the last one and jump. :D

Moon Patrol is a lot about memorization. If I started playing it as an adult, I would probably never be any good at it. When I played it for the first time in like 15 years, I was still able to make it partway through the Champion course (died at the buggy eating plants).

Its weird how weird stuff gets burned into your brain, but you forget lots of important stuff.

Classic, just classic. I read this post to my wife and she punched me in the face.

And here I thought my wife was the only one who had perfected the shop-blocking technique...

Tried that repeatedly. Maybe my fire button isn't as responsive as it should be because I've yet to shoot more than two boulders before plowing into the third boulder, even while going the slowest speed possible. Best I could do was shoot the first two boulders and do a mid-speed jump to clear the last two, landing just soon enough to shoot the first boulder of the second set before jumping again.

the way i usually do it is, slow down to the slowest speed possible after the first set of big double rocks, you have to slow down way before the 2 sets of three come out. 99.9% of the time i can shoot the first 5, it IS possible to shoot all 6, but it's safer to jump over the last one.
