Got an email from a friend in need of a Moon Patrol Harness. No problem, I still have a couple left on the shelf. Ahh but wait, he has a switching power supply.
Moon Patrol doesn't have the problems using a switcher that other Williams games have, so I made a switcher mod for him. I am now going to share it with you, as I have no desire to make these for others.
There are many different ways to do this, and this is what I did. First off, let me say... no I didn't hook up the coin door lights or the lockout coils.
Moon Patrol only requires +5vdc and +12vdc for power.
I used a 12 position Molex .093 connector set and U-shaped crimp quick diconnects.
I tapped into 4J3 pin 6, and tied it to GND so that the original linear power supply can be removed if he even has it. Next I tapped 4J2 pin 3 to +12vdc, pins 8, 9, 10, 11 to GND, pins 12, 13, 14, 15 to +5vdc. It is that simple, however the way that I did it allows for the original linear power supply to be installed at a later date without needing to change the harness back. All my friend will have to do is unplug the switcher and connect his original linear power supply.
