Is the game any fun? I hear it name dropped every once in a while but have never played one. Tell me about Moon Cresta. I do not have MAME.

It's a very slow and laborious galaxian-type clone with fewer aliens to shoot and exceptionally super gay sound effects. The redeeming portion of this crappy game is your ship has three parts and you get a docking bonus at the end of each round.

It's one to play while visiting others who have it, but its native cabinet is the frogger box which is not very accessible when you need to clean the monitor.

One to not own, unless you're into that sort of thing.

Whatever happened to that Pacific Novelty diving game you had....?

Moon Cresta / Moon Quasar / Eagle / etc, etc..

I actually really like the game. I played the hell out of it as a kid. Its something "like" galaxian, but not really. You have to fight different enemy's, but you can dock and upgrade your shots.

Cool game!

I remember a thread where Jow said it's the worst game ever greated... or maybe it was Fritzy...

Anywho- I freakin' LOVE it. Yes, Galaga/Galaxian clone with cheesy sounds but for some reason I can't stop playing it. The docking feature is sweet too.

Hmmm, I guess I've been deprived on yet another part of life. All the Moon Cresta games, including SSSSSSSuper Moon Cresta all were living in the Gremlin (Frogger) cab.

That cab is pure ass.

If I were to make a list of the toughest Classic Arcade cabs, Eagle/Moon Cresta would likely be on it. Just a brutally tough game but addicting nonetheless. When a game gives you a free GAME at 30k, not just another life, but an entire game, you know it's good times ahead.

Once you get all 3 ships docked for the final icicle thingys, if you get hit you go back to less firepower and not only will your scores suffer but the game gets even more brutal. I played this for the 1st time at Richie Knucklez' arcade during the tourney last March and liked the challenge so I tried to go after the WR for awhile. I broke 100k and stopped playing but Jimmy Linderman pwned me on it at Funspot and did get the WR.

If you want a game to go bald with, it's this one.

Wow, I just tried Eagle and Moon Cresta for a couple games in MAME...man, they're horrible...and not in a good way.

generation gap? im thinking maybe some of those earlier games (pre-golden age) might not be for everyone. Maybe too simplistic and the lack of nostalgia for those who never played it back then.

I was playing games back then (well, I don't know about 1980, but maybe a year or two later, but played many games of that era), but I don't remember ever playing this one. I tried Moon Quasar too, which is very similar, except it has a fuel docking scene about halfway thru before the other docking scene. It also lets you shoot 3 shots with the single bullet ship...that wasn't quite as frustrating :D

Played Moon Cresta when it came out BITD and found it mildly entertaining only because there wasn't much else to play at a couple of the arcades I frequented. The sounds of the game do cause me stress as it reminds me how cr@p the game is....it is a hard game to play. Those first aliens look like Coosh stress balls.
