OK guys, please help me understand something. I was just playing pinball at the local bar. The only machine they have is Monopoly. I got 18.9M. It felt like a decent game, though not spectacular. Nonetheless, I looked it up on Twin Galaxies just out of curiosity. It has the record listed as around 18.5M. I can't believe this is right, as I realize I'm not that great. What gives?

Probably the settings 3 ball versus 5 ball factory settings instead of some sort of tweaked settings that most of us do to make the game more fun (easier in my case).

Re: Settings

It was set up with 3 balls, extra balls allowed. I'm not sure what other difficulty settings are available, but the "default" high score is 30M, so something is definitely odd.

I'm thinking there aren't a lot of pinball records submitted. I can beat the current Taxi world record about 1 out of 4 games, and I don't consider myself a great player.

Pinball is more about the PAPA tournaments and rankings, vs world records. Only thing like that is going to a buddies house and beating the Grand Champion score--then they have to look at your initials on their machine! (Until theyntake the batteries out....)

Twin Galaxies is regarded more for video games. Otherwise, Billy Mitchel would start fighting Steve Wiebe over the Gottlieb SMB scores!

Too many variables between machines for Pin records to mean anything more than jack shit...it's a physical game, and dependent on level, condition and a whole host of little things, the outcome WILL be different on every single machine. Vids on the other hand, outside of buttons and sticks functioning properly, it's all software that is the same EVERY time outside of anything random that's part of the software.

Not something I think records can be set on anything more than each individual machine. Comparing scores between machines is just BS.
