I just got it few mins ago and the issue with it is .. it kept firing the ball.

anyone know whats causing? IM VERY VERY NOOB on PIN but i can cap the monitor so it shouldnt be hard for me to learn! =) Can you try to elaborate and pictures would be nice.

thanks in advance!

I'm a noob too, and someone may correct me on this, but if I understand it correctly, the issue is that the switch that sits in your shooter lane may not be detecting that a ball's been kicked out into the lane. You may need to lift the playfield and adjust the leaf or microswitch to make sure it's actuating once the ball is sitting on it.

(Don't forget to actually remove the balls before you lift it. About had one fall out of the trough and fall on my head the other day..)

*Edit* Unless you mean that it keeps trying to fire the ball up the shooter lane, even after it's gone...in which case, I'm useless, because my only pin has a shooter rod. :p

It may also be an opto board problem. My RCT would shoot more than 1 ball at a time and I reflowed the solder on the header pins of the opto boards and it fixed it. You can put it into switch test and check the trough and shooter lane switches as well. Good luck - I know Monopoly isn't regarded highly but I like it and would buy one if the price was right. - Barry

yes i got it great price!.... yes it must be opto board cuz one of my friend told me too.

i tested and it kept ejecting.. ..

ill reflow the opto board sometime this sunday or tomoorrow night..

Rotary seem not working too.. and it needs shoppedtoo!!!

nice small project for me to start with

I am not sure about stern optos, but I had a similar problem with a popeye pinball and it turned out the 12 volts was missing,it turned out to be the connector in the head.

I removed both opto board and it stopped ejecting and now i can play with it. I found replacement real cheap in pinballlife.com so ill try to reflow opto and see if i can save 20 bucks. Weird sh(t thing is i can play without the opto baord? what s it for?? do i really need it?

i found more issue when i am able to play with it.

List for me to fix is..

1. ejection ball (opto issue)

2. SHOPPING (Rubbers/Blubs)

3. Two of Bumper kicker the round ones doesnt pop when hit.. eventhough scores appears.

4. when i shoot to chance/community chest hole and it wouldnt kick ball back up and scores doesnt appear. wiring maybe.

5. Start button.. When i hit start. it would start looking for a ball. I decide to remove the switcher and wire hitting.. top and middle and it plays game. if i hit middle and bottom and it start looking for a ball. DIODES??? Im not sure..

6. and O F^@K!! i broke the glass shattered all over my garage. I put glass on the one of toys (softer compared to the cement ground). While cleaning with window cleaner. Shattered! o FUCK!.. what s the best place to buy replacement one!. glass shop or ?

thanks..

1. I thought about buying and it was an easy fix, someone has them for 7 each.
2. Bulbs and rubbers are cheap, just time consuming. The Sterns are cool since you can turn all the lights on in the menu to track down burnt bulbs.
3.Not sure, maybe check the fuses and coils.
4.could be the switch in there. If the machine doesn't "see" the ball there it won't pop it out.
5.ball trough issues???? The opto board an the other rollover switches in the trough tell the game how many balls are installed. If you have the opto out the machine may think there isn;t the proper number of balls installed.
6. That sucks!!!!! Are there any local pin guys who keep it on hand. I know up here near Seattle there are a few guys who buy it in quantity and sell it to others. Shipping could be spendy.

I forgot if you open the coin door you can go into the menu and check all the solenoids one at a time to see if they work, that will help track down the pop bumper and hole kicker problems. Same with switch tests. Be sure to pull out the interlock otherwise the coils will not fire in the tests..
