Just wanted to get some opinions on what the issue could be. This monitor came in an out run cab I recently purchased. Seller said one day it just stopped working. After I turned it on this morning I ended up with this:

Photos of the chassis:

Any idea on what it could be? I noticed the two sync wires at the chassis are joined into one coming from the harness. Not sure if this has something to do it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

the lines are retrace lines.(coarse brightness on flyback is a little too high) but is is showing some signs of life!!!

DO you hear the game play?? Like can you coin it up and drive blind?

If not, your game pcb isnt firing up, monitor is probably ok,. Check power supply voltages and connectors at filter board.

If it plays blind.. well then thats odd. I might be wrong but that appears to be a nanao monitor and not alot of peeople mess with those. If it plays blind and youve checked the narness between the pcbs and the monitor, next step would be to back it up to another cabinet and swap video wires to see if its still something else int he game or the monitor.

Judging by the corrosion i see on the monitor frame that thing sat in a damp place for a long time. WOuld be best to go through all the connectors and see if you can find any corroded ones.

Thank you for the help Cadillacman. I will try the monitor tomorrow in my Galaga cab to narrow down the possibilities. However, I did try a G07 in the out run today and I couldn't get the picture to come on. Almost like it was out of sync. Is it okay to have the sync wires spliced into one?

I don't know about the game in particular, but some games you do need the wires spliced. If it was working, and the guy didn't swap the monitor, then it probably needs the splice job.

Would voltages cause the problem? Such as the 5V being off? The monitor and wiring was never touched by the previous owner. As stated the monitor just quit according to him.

so it is playing blind?

You never really told us if it's playing blind or not, do you hear the game playing?

Update:

Tested the monitor this morning on my Galaga cabinet and get the exact same result as photo one at the top of this post. Starts with a grey screen followed by a pink screen with all sorts of lines. At least I narrowed the problem down to the monitor.

cool..

next fun issue, adapting a monitor to work in there.

Not all monitors are pinned out the same etc so you may need to do a little tinkering on the sync wires.

Glad you got it narrowed down at least.

You're telling me. I tried my G07 and couldn't get it to sync. Tried a few different combinations and still no luck. I'm to the point I want to take a sledge hammer to the thing and smash it up. Urgh!!!!!

g07 mod

the g07 probably needs to be modified to sync with that game. If you buy a cap kit from bob roberts it's listed on the instructions. If you need me to look it up I can.
