Hey guys, got this 25" WG and fixed all my issues with brightness and such. One last question. The picture is AMAZING when its warmed up but say every morning when I turn it on I have to wait literally 4 minutes for it to warm up. When I first start it, the only colors I get are blue, then you see the red come in and then eventually its perfect, couldnt ask for a better picture. There is a new power supply in there as well. Is this maybe a monitor issue or could it be a voltage issue?? Any thought. Thanks!

I have the same problem on a sanyo 20ez, except that it takes about 2 min not 4.

I am open to suggestions as well. I am fairly certain it is not the power supply, as my other 20EZ does not have that same problem in the same cab.

heres some stuff I found while browsing. One is in reference to an asteriods monitor and one is in reference to a tv.

Asteriods:
As the game warms up, everything gradually gets drawn correctly. Unfortunately, a video problem like this is pretty ambiguous. It can be anything, either on the monitor board or on the main board. We have an advantage here, though. A problem changing as the game warms up is a good thing, whether going from good to bad or (in this case) bad to good. Problems like this are usually easy to troubleshoot with a can of freeze spray (I like to use a can of compressed air, held upside down.) This "warm up" change usually means that a faulty IC, transistor, or capacitor (or more than one!) is to blame and is making this change occur as the component warms up. In my case I had a faulty capacitor that was causing the problem.

TV:
FIRST: Smack the set with your hand or fist in many places around the cabinet to see if there might be a loose connection or cold solder joint that is causing the slow warm up.

SECONDLY: Remove the back cover and unplug the big connector on the back of the picture tube and reinsert it a few times. Zenith are famous for corroded pins or connectors in the plug. Be sure to unplug the tv before getting inside - for your own safety.

See if these two suggestions will solve the problem. I think I will give it an 80% probability of solving your problem.

So I dont know if either will help, Maybe a cap kit will help?? or maybe its a loose connector?

Whoa, hold on now, Tex!

First off, if the monitor chassis hasn't been recapped in a while, you should probably do that. Caps that get old don't operate as efficiently as they should.

Second, you should have the tube rejuvenated. You may have some shorts in the guns that interfere with all of them coming up to optimum operation as quickly as they should.

As for it "probably gonna crap out soon", I've had tubes I've rejuvenated that are still looking and working great 5 years after the fact...

4 mins is awfully long... sounds intermittent...
maybe you b+ is very low and slowly climbs to the regulated voltage... Otherwise you could also have bad heater voltage.
what model do you have?

This is apples and oranges my friend.

Thanks Mod, I was thinking cap kit because a lot of stuff I read brought me to believe bad caps. Also how would I go about rejuvenating the monitor?

I am not sure what model there is a tag that just says WG 25" I will look into it further. Also like I said there is a new power supply so maybe the voltage is wrong? I will also look into that.

Thanks for the responses!

EDIT: I also want to add, I didnt put this in the original post but once its warmed up, I wont have the issue, its only if its been off for maybe a couple hours. If I turn it on and warm up it and then shut it off and an hour later turn it on, I might only have to wait like 10 seconds for the image to be perfect.

EDIT 2: Model number 25k7191

Bump, I found someone while searching the same model number, They had the same problem and then eventually it wouldnt warm up and would stay dark. They said a cap kit fixed it!

I dont know what the deal is but the past 2 times I turned it on, it came right up with like 2 seconds of warm up, like I had all colors and then it got brighter. instead of dark with only blue etc..

alright new update:

I got a blue elf 108n1 and everytime I turn it on, its perfect. no waiting, no color warm up, just picture perfect. I will wait till tomorrow morning to be sure but is it possible the problem lied in the tekken pcb?? Also the monitor has a tag like someone repaired something at some time, idk the caps look decent?

'CAPS LOOKgood" you cant tell if caps are good by looking... in extreme cases ou can see buldged caps but most of the time you cant tell if they are bad or not.

ha..

well, if its working fine dont tinker with it..
butif it starts that krap again id recap it and check for cracked solder, especially around the video input pins
