Monitor scrambled and picture upside down?

What monitor? This should probably be in the monitor section, btw.

You could have several things wrong:

1) Wrong monitor resolution type.
2) Incorrect video wiring connected.
3) Misadjusted controls
4) Swapped yoke wires.
5) Misinstalled monitor.
6) Monitor chassis that needs repair.

etc....

take some puctures of the monitors chassis(circuit board) and post here. Take some pictures of where the video input wires plut into the monitor chassis and post here. We can go form there.

Did this machine ever work or did you get it this way? A youtube video of the issue and video of the monitor chassis/hookups may help as well

OK well now after checking the connectors I have no picture at all.

I am beginning to think its a bad monitor.

Game comes up and I can hear it just nothing on the screen.

Well I got a RTR twin setup.

One had all boards but no PSU and no monitor

The other had a monitor and PSU but no mainboard or steering board.

I put the monitor and PSU which I was told worked into the cab with the boards and then swapped the steering wheels as wheel (the one in this cab was missing its pot)

Anyway I'll get some pics of the back of the cab.

If a mod wants to shift this to the monitor section thats fine -- I didn't even notice there was one.

Monitor is a WG 27K7502
Hitachi Tube

Sticker on chassis says replace only with K7500 chassis

More details got the picture back now and it is skewed, backwards, and upside down.

In Test Mode I can get the picture to sit still and align but I am at the far end of the controls to do so and the pic is still backwards and upside down. Also I cannot move it any further to one side even though it needs to be and the sides are "pinched in"

Working on getting pics up

Thanks

Greg

Ok some googling an I have fixed the upside down and the backwards problem (flipped the wires from the yoke and that is fixed)

Still cannot get the image to align itself so you can see it on the screen.

Hmm which connector would that be the one going from the monitor to the main board?

Greg

This one - take a picture of where this is connecting on your monitor board if you can.

Though a silly question, have you tried adjusting your pots for horizontal and vertical hold? Also, might be worth it to ensure those pots are functioning properly...I recently had a lightning bolt image somewhat like that that was caused by a faulty horizontal hold potentiometer of all things. Sometimes it is the simple things that cause us the biggest headaches.

Also, I have seen a similar image displayed on a machine where the input signal was higher than the monitor could handle...i.e. a raster monitor connected to a med/high res board, but I'm inclined to think that isn't the case since you were able to get the test/diagnostics screen to display properly...

BTW - I can't tell. I can see your remote cable hanging down, but I can't see a remote connected to it. Is it hidden behind some cables there? If it's missing, it would explain why you can get a stable pic, and why the monitor shut down on you...

Remote is stuck through the hole on the right to the front of the cab and in the coin door area where the test/volume switches are.

There is no H-Hold pot on the remote (neither monitor has one) The text on the board that says H-Hold is hole no pot.

V-Hold helps but doesn't clear up the issue.

The H-hold is on the chassis itself.

Is the black wire there between the blue and yellow? I hate those IDC connectors. Make sure the ground and sync wires are pushed down in there good...

There is a black wire that runs up to the back of the monitor on to the board at the end (neck board I presume). This black wire wasn't attached when I got the game but I put it back on before starting the game up the first time.

I'll have to look for the h-hold when I get home and look in the back

Greg

I'm talking about the black wire that connects to the video input connector between the blue and yellow wires. I see it goes up there, but can't see if it's connected. If not, then you'd get this problem. If it's not crimped down fully, you'd get this problem.

A couple other things to try:

a) Remove the yellow wire. The K7500 doesn't need the vertical sync if it's composite, and it can mess up the sync. If it doesn't help, put the yellow wire back.

b) Try moving the sync to the negative pins...

You mean the wires on the connector in the picture above?

And what should I avoid coming in contact with while fiddling with this thing? I am not a monitor guy unfortunately.

Greg

if you're worried, just shut it off while fiddling with the connector....

Not at that connector, and all you have to do is unplug it, then pull it down to mess with, then plug it in. You can it with it on, too, but if you're worried, just shut it off...
